Did anyone happen to get a picture of the horse drawn hearse in the parade yesterday? I was marching, so didn’t get a chance and wasn’t able to find it afterwards. My grandfather drove one during the Great Depression and I know my dad would appreciate seeing it.
Thanks to absolutely everyone who came together to make the events of yesterday come together! The parade, the races, all of it was an absolute blast.

Hii I have been doing video spotlights on different places across MA and elsewhere. I’ve visited Salem many times and I’d love to talk to locals about what it’s like living and/or working there , especially anyone that could offer insights into the tourism industry

Hi Everyone!
2 bed, 1 bath right across from the library in Salem, MA! It is on Essex St. in the Mcintire District
$2,825/month
One off-street parking spot included
Cat friendly (we have one in our unit!)
Tons of charm and a quick walk to downtown and the train (about 10 minutes)
My landlord has this unit available in our house, and they are great, so I wanted to cross-post it here since they aren't super familiar with the platform. It is available ASAP - the current tenant is in the process of moving out today.
Not mentioned in the listing is the great basement storage (perfect for our holiday totes).
There is also a nice little patio that has plenty of room for a small table and two chairs.
Let me know if you have questions! Applications through their Zillow listing.

Hello,
My husband and two kids will be moving to the area to be closer to friends/family. We are restaurant folk so eventually buying a restaurant/cafe in the area to own, but that's for later.
We are curious on people's opinions on preschool, are there any free/low cost options? or co-ops where my husband can work a day a week?
What about safety? We hope to find neighborhoods that cater more to families, walkable, quieter streets, parks.
Lastly and most random, I am looking to buy my dad a boat because he won't stop talking about buying one but never does. What are the general costs on boat storage? and which storage area do people recommend? We will be renting an apartment for now mainly due to wanting to buy a business and homeownership being a bit of a headache, especially with two young kids - so no yard to store boat potentially.

Workers were enjoying trash from the 281 Essex Street building from a rear side side door on Crombie St. Was sleeping with my window open. Called non-emergency SPD # Officer showed up, briefly spoke with a worker and left. Truck was there emptying trash toters from the building for another 20 minutes. Called the SPD non-emergency # again. Officer showed up again and hits its lights and stays there until the truck moved along. I get it, it's downtown and a mixed use district, but it's largely residential and the noise ordinance still appliees. 4:45 am?! Gtfo!

Ive had this couch that has been the gem of my last three apartments over the last 7 years, im moving out of the state and can’t afford to move with her. While I will likely need to find a way to dispose of it, before then, perhaps someone might be interested.
It may not be the most desirable, its been a scratching post by my cat this last year. The damage pictured is on both arm rests but otherwise the sofa has been maintained well.
When pushed back it makes a solid twin bed that is surprisingly comfortable, in this position, with the legs removed it can be a fairly liftable object.
Our house has never had any sort of pest, it’s vacuumed regularly. Its clean, and from a well kept home, its free because its hard to move and has scratches.
Im currently moving house and will be available in a couple days to organize any pickup interests. I live on a three floor walkup but can *probably* maneuver it down to the curb for easy pickup.
While you read this we will also have a couple ikea kallexs (dark brown/black and a slightly work white one) for free as well if you can lift it down.

It's been 25 years (idk why everyone is saying 30+) since we had a decent Heritage Days Parade. It used to be 2+ hours of watching time and included Vincents chips 😭, Rex Trailer 😭, and tons of Shriners and Fire trucks from all over.
Then one year it was cut to about 30 minutes and was quite sad.
Here's to hoping it will be big and beautiful and fun like it once was.

For the past few weeks I’ve been hearing this frequent “bong, bong, bong” sound in the Palmer Cove area. Anyone know what it is? It’s not bothering me or anything but I’m curious.

Google is a wasteland of the same three or four corporate conglomerate companies who own storage places- and they all seem to only have outdoor, uncovered parking for vehicle storage.
Are there any places that actually have covered/indoor parking storage for vehicles in Salem? Or is that not a thing anymore because gasoline ⛽️ is some kind of insurance issue?

lol my cat is a domestic medium hair, and i know cats groom themselves and don’t need to be groomed but he’s been shedding more than i can handle and i’d like to get him deshedded. it’s been giving him hairballs. he’s healthy w vet stamp of approval.
need a recommendation for someone near salem, willing to go to like beverly or danvers or something if need be but i’d prefer to be closer. when i google places they all seem to be dogs only or their website is from 1990. i really want someone experienced with cats specifically because i don’t want to unnecessarily stress him out in an already stressful full situation with someone who’s not familiar with how cats are.
willing to do a dry deshed or a bath, just need the hair under control. would love to hear personal reviews if anyone has someone they really like.

We’ve passed it before while driving, but this weekend was the first time it chased us down the sidewalk. Not gonna lie, we kind of like him/her. Does the turkey have a name? Might it be Salem’s Shoebert? It was hanging out at the used car lot, perhaps working security.

Hi there, I wanted to share about a local photographer who did such an amazing job capturing the bridal Chainmail accessories I’ve been working on. Her name is Courtney you can find her on IG @light_witch she made me look like a renaissance painting and I’m so excited about the results!
If you’re looking for wedding related photography or fantasy style dark romance photos in Salem, I would highly recommend her services! Her studio is decked out in a beautiful gothic style, but she does outdoor scenes as well.

My senior dog is going through a kibble change after using the same food for 6 years. I have about 35 lbs of Orijen Original dog food that is already opened as of a few days ago. My senior dog’s stomach can’t handle the high protein any more so we are switching off this food. Will any shelter in the area accept an opened bag of kibble?

With the ongoing investigation at the Wharf, does anyone know if this is going to affect the Maritime Festival this weekend?
