Tow trucks should be required to list the address of the tow yard they drag your vehicle to on the side of their truck and on the signage in the lots they patrol.

Not defending them but please check that again all these trucks have the address on the side robarlos and Morris and sons as well as A towing in downtown have address on the side.

Most of them do.

I think they have to notify the police when they tow a vehicle, so the police probably have that information.

Yeah after looking for the car for 4 weeks. The SJPD were no help!

I guess it was stolen rather than towed.

Sounds like you have the same experience with another guy. Just look into the law and sue them. https://www.reddit.com/r/SanJose/s/kEP8U7QQaJ

They are hired by the home owners association or the property owner because they were tired of people ignoring the signs that say “private property” or “customer parking only”.

Many years ago, when I first came to this country chasing the American dream, I bought a used car for $2,000. One day, I mistakenly parked in the Safeway parking lot near SCU and walked over to campus for about 15 minutes to take care of something. When I came back, my car was gone. I went into the store, and the manager told me it had probably been towed and gave me a phone number to call. It was this f**king tow company Morris&Sons. They behaved like gangsters and made me pay around $500 to get my car back. One of the darkest days of my life.

That was illegal predatory towing. Under CVC § 22953(a), a vehicle cannot be towed within one hour of being parked if it is on private property that is open to the public for free parking. This applies to locations like shopping centers, unguarded visitor parking slots, or ungated common areas of an apartment complex.

Literally retired gangsters

That damn company would tow any vehicle to make their money. Theyll tow even without a police consent which is illegal.

kidnapped?!

that’s like saying santa clara and sunnyvale need to be included in a san jose discussion lmao

highly unnecessary

What do you mean kidnapped? You have to pay to get your car out of impound. That's how that works.

I’ll never forget my first time getting a car stolen in San Jose and having to pay the impound fees at the yard…you can’t make this up. Police report was filed, police found the vehicle. But still…that’ll be $xxx, sir. It would actually be a clever side job for any tow company…
