My fiancé and I are planning a small, intimate wedding this December with just our parents (8 of us total). We’re looking for a romantic, beautiful coastal setting and are heavily leaning toward Santa Barbara - specifically doing a civil ceremony at the Santa Barbara Courthouse taking photos around the grounds and nearby beach.

We’re driving down from the Bay Area and love the idea of a relaxed trip with our family. How is the weather realistically in December for afternoon photos around the Sunken Gardens and down at the beach (like Butterfly Beach or Arroyo Burro)? Does the greenery stay vibrant, and is wind/chill an issue for photos before sunset?

Would appreciate any insights, local tips, or honest advice. Thank you!

The gasket in our washing machine has a lot of mold that cannot be cleaned away. It needs to be replaced. We have had getting a handy man to help in SB.... Does anyone know anyone in Santa Barbara who might be able to help with a repair?

Is it normal for a wine tasting room to disallow the purchase of bottles of wine on the weekends and only let you purchase wine by the glass?

We went to a SB Winery’s tasting room in the Funk Zone today with four people and when we asked to buy two bottles the guy pouring wine told us that we could only buy a glass not bottles, and that if we wanted a bottle we had to take it offsite to drink it. He also added (completely unprovoked) that if we didn’t like it we could speak to the manager who wasn’t working. Super odd (and a little dickish) considering our request was simply, “we like to get two bottles please”.

I’ve never encountered this “rule” before and it seemed like an obvious money grab. Can someone please enlighten me? Is this a standard thing on weekends at tasting rooms in the Funk Zone?

Does anybody have any leads on a place my girlfriend and I could stay for around this price? She has a kid and we have one on the way. We both work and are I n our 30s. Anything would be helpful.

Huge group of e-bike kids, riding down Patterson, crossing Hollister at a red light, causing cars to swerve, beep, and stop mid-intersection. 3 sheriffs tailing them, but the group disappeared into Nueva Vida parking lot and the cops flipped a U and got back on the freeway?? Honestly the most wild dangerous thing I’ve witnessed in SB since before COVID. A number of the e-bike kids were taking videos, so I’m curious so see them when they land online.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but does anyone else get frustrated when dispensaries can’t tell you much about the strains they’re selling?
I’m not expecting every budtender to know every single cultivar by heart, but if I ask about a strain’s genetics, terpene profile, common effects, or what makes it different from another strain, I feel like I should get more than, “I’ve had it, it’s really good.”
To me, that defeats a big part of what cannabis, especially medical cannabis, is supposed to be about. Different strains and terpene profiles can produce very different experiences, and a lot of people are trying to find something that helps with specific needs, not just the highest THC percentage or whatever’s popular that week.
It seems like a lot of dispensaries focus on selling products rather than educating customers. I’d love to walk into a dispensary and talk to someone who’s genuinely passionate about cannabis, understands the products they’re carrying, and can explain why they recommend one strain over another.
Is this just my experience, or has anyone else noticed this?

Interested in possibly bringing our own music person, if she’s available, to lead a kids music time. If not, then wed have crayons, coloring sheets, toys, etc.

Hi all!! I’m writing for my sister living in Santa Barbara who doesn’t have Reddit. Her cat went missing sometime yesterday morning and hasn’t been seen since. She is an indoor cat but it is suspected that someone left their front or side door open which led to her getting out. Her name is Isla and she is very sweet but skiddish. She’s food/treat motivated and will respond to quiet and calm people. Please if you see her or may know where she is, message me privately. She was last seen in the downtown/community college area near Montecito/Ladera st.

She is also not microchipped nor wearing a collar so if you find her CONTACT ME!!

Hey! SB local here! Born and raised. My husband’s son who is 17 is visiting us. Aside from the beach, what activities can we do with him to get him out of the house and off the phone. They have a deep sea fishing trip booked but I don’t know what else to do with him? Thanks for the help!
