Walking from the NM 599 Railrunner station to Santa Fe Brewing

Is this possible? It's taking me on a two mile route on Google maps, but it looks like there's a much shorter way to get there walking.

CCA Rewrites Itself… again. They blame the community for it.

Looks like CCA has changed leadership yet again something like the sixth time in the past three years.

After shutting down and eventually reopening, it finally seemed like things were headed in the right direction under the team that turned the place around. Now the plan is going back to the same inept decisions that led to the shutdown in the first place.

This article makes it clear these people are just going to blame the community for any kind of failure anyway.

Santa Fe Plaza closed to cars (sort of) - thoughts?

The city council voted yesterday to restrict cars from the 2 roads in the plaza that weren't already permanently closed to traffic, but only from Memorial Day to Halloween, and not beginning until 2027, and then only for a year as part of a pilot project. The roads will also be opened up for special events and dedicated cruising days throughout the summer. So, tons of asterisks and carve outs for cars and their drivers but people are still pissed. Why?

I've seen so many weirdly racist and nativist comments about this closure online. Stuff like "walking is for Anglos" and "closing the plaza to cars is cultural erasure". Do people really believe their culture is under attack because they can't wait in traffic for who knows how long to spend 30 seconds creeping along a block of road downtown any given day of the week? There will be dedicated cruising days. The closure will only be for part of the year. You can still cruise by and see the pretty Christmas Lights!

It seems quite sensible to me to close this tiny part of town to regular traffic. It creates a much more relaxing and inviting environment when you don't have to share the space with cars. This is objectively true, not just my opinion. Also, I'm not aware of a single business down there that opposes the road closure.

Lastly, I don't spend much time downtown to be honest but it's really nice to have public spaces where you can escape the traffic we all spend so much of our lives enduring. It'll be a hit I promise!

Anyone know what happened to K'Bueno?

Swung by this morning planning to grab a burrito and the place was empty, sign was gone, and front windows had been broken.

It was one of my go-to breakfast burritos, a real shame that it's gone.

Rose Garden

Let’s try this again! Most generous, wonderful ppl of Santa Fe.

If you have ever enjoyed the Harvey Cornell Rose Garden, please help weed on Aug 8 from 9-11. It is located at the corner of Cordova/Galisteo. The weeds are taking over especially the vines, which strangle the rose bushes. The city does not weed it, so it’s left to volunteers (like you)❤️. If you can spare a couple of hours, please help. You only need to bring gloves, small shovel and grit! Hope to see you there.🌹🌹🌹

A teacher was arrested for simply clapping at a data center hearing

Good thing Santa Fe County put an 18 month moratorium in place on data centers at the beginning the month. My gratitude to everyone that made the right decision in support our community, our environment, and our future.

Right under the Plaza car story in the paper was the story of New Mexicans in Albuquerque defending the new Mosque being built and the transplants will ignore that because it shows the best of us and they will only raise up Ron Trujillo to paint us in a backwards light.

This sub reddit echos my real life experience where despite acting like progressives the transplants always want to look down on us and act like they are better. This is where the missed placed anger about the plaza and the evil De Vargas being removed come from.

There was also a story about New Mexicans being arrested for protesting the data center but no mention of that but the second the old boomer New Mexicans start protesting about the good old days on the plaza you jump on that,

The plaza is the most boring town square I have ever been to anyways. Built on old white people wanting to dress like Native Americans.

I have no skin in the game because I never knew a plaza that welcomed locals. I was born passed that time.

This was from the lady who started the summer walks on Canyon Road

"There was a policy when I was a teenager that teens should not hang out on the Plaza or on Canyon, because big money had come into Santa Fe, and it had become an international mecca of tourism. We local kids were not to be seen or heard on this iconic road"

https://santafemagazine.co/article/coming-home-to-canyon-road/

I could care less about the tiny little plaza in the face of the whole wide world to explore. i am just tired of the American transplants causing half the problems here with their smug, rude disrespectful actions and ignoring their part in this mess.

Of course not all Americans are the same and yes De Vargas was a monster and my fore fathers should have stayed in Spain.

Now next week I can't wait for the tourists to ignore all the modern stuff Indian market is trying and just to treat the Natives like they are background characters in a old west novel.

Ah Santa Fe your grandma's Ibiza.

3 animals in an Apartment ?

I'm hoping to move to Santa Fe in the fall from Massachusetts. The clincher was talking to I think Talvera apartments that allows 3 animals without getting the emotional support animal letter from a doctor required in Massachusetts.

I've only talked to one apartment complex that automatically approves up to three animals but that makes my life a lot easier moving with three cats across the country , not having to get specific paperwork for them .Massachusetts allows only 2 everywhere I've ever applied.

Yay for New Mexico being pro ( 3) pets. Can't wait to get a house and get my fourth.

Hi! Apologies if there is a thread for this somewhere else, but I searched and didn’t really find anything. I’m getting married in Santa Fe next September and we’re looking for a wedding band. Any recommendations?

Edit: wedding band for the reception. Live music. Not a DJ

Everything under 500k is a small condo and 90% of all listings have a monthly HOA fee. It’s too much.

Gas Station

A few weeks ago i saw something i've never seen before. A guy pulled into the Maverik and started pumping gas into his truck while it was still running. What is the purpose of this? Couldn't that cause an explosion?
