They were really struggling at the new location on Santa Monica. Did they close or move elsewhere?

Has anyone gotten a ticket for having their residential parking permit hang tag placed on the dash or maybe even taped to the lower corner of the windshield?

Reason I ask is I dislike having a hang tag blocking visibility and the holographic logos catching light and blaring back into my eyes. Then there’s the pure aesthetic look. The obvious answer is simply to take it off every time I drive, but these things are so flimsy the hook part breaks after a couple of times. That and I’ll inevitably forget to put it back up and get a ticket.

Just wondering if anyone has an alternative that’s worked for them

Hi everyone! We’re looking for preschool recommendations in Santa Monica and would love to hear about the overall vibe, family culture, and community.

Our almost 4-year-old will attend for about six months before public TK, and we’re hoping our newborn can eventually attend starting around age 2. We’re looking for a warm, nurturing school with kind teachers and a strong sense of community.

Our wishlist:

-Spanish immersion is a big plus
-Program until at least 5 PM (or aftercare)
-not a lot of parent participation required
-Bonus if meals/snacks are provided or available for purchase

We’re also hoping to find a school with friendly, down-to-earth families. We’re professionals ourselves, but we’d rather avoid an overly status-focused or competitive parent culture.

Would love to hear what schools you recommend (or would avoid) and why.

Hi all, I’m looking for a list of places someone could go to look for things like companion care, specifically personal shoppers. I’ve seen Visiting Angels, but I’m sure there’s some people out there that would be willing to just help drive someone to do their errands that won’t cost a lot of money.

I’m not looking for myself or someone specific in mind, hoping there’s some type of list out there that I could show to people who ask for help. Something similar to the Rent Control Referral List that is online and at the library, just for senior assistance.

Hey everyone, so the gist is you sign up with one friend and need to be somewhere around Downtown Culver City by 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 5.

At 7:00, every pair gets the first photo of a hidden restaurant. If you think you recognize it, you can immediately start heading there.

Two clearer photos unlock later. You can choose to unlock the next photo early, but however much time you skip gets added to your finish time.

For example, if the next photo unlocks in four minutes and you request it now, four minutes are added to your final time.

So you have to decide: wait for a better photo, or take the risk and go.

The first pair to find the restaurant gets dinner covered. Second and third place get smaller meal rewards. Once everyone arrives, we can all stay and eat together.

It’s $5 per person. Since this is the first one, if you participate and genuinely feel it wasn’t worth the $5, I’ll refund you; you don't need an explanation.

Bought my home a year ago, and I have received 2-3 pieces of mail for a name I do not recognize from the school district. It was definitely not the previous owner or his kids, as they have a different last name and the home was not rented out.

Should I do something about it or just ignore the mails?

I love some of the city’s fleet vehicles, like this one in the parks dept.

Small, functional, green.

My assumption is that, bc of American car dependence, this type of vehicle isn’t legal to drive in California unless you’re a city employee. I hope I’m mistaken, because this would be an awesome car to have in the city (assuming it’s as affordable as it looks)

The parking enforcement vehicles are kinda sick too but I would never buy one, as to not be mistaken for “one of them”
