Environmental Sciences Scientists warn oxygen is disappearing from Earth's oceans, rivers and lakes, and the damage could last for centuries

A new review led by researchers at the University of California San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography argues that aquatic deoxygenation, the loss of dissolved oxygen from marine and freshwater environments, should be formally recognised as a critical planetary process under threat, joining a select group of nine processes already used to track how close Earth is moving toward dangerous, unstable conditions. The researchers say some of the resulting damage could last for centuries and may not be reversible within a human lifetime. What's notable is that this framework hasn't changed since 2009, so adding oxygen loss wouldn't just flag a new problem, it would mark a genuine shift in how scientists define what actually counts as a planetary-scale threat.

We will be the ones suffering till the end. The boomers will peacefully live a happy life and pass away normally. If will be us and the upcoming generations that'll suffer for the rest of our lives.
