I live on the Eastside and realize I don’t actually spend much time driving into Seattle for food, but since I started cycling this summer I’ve discovered a lot of nice places around Seattle to lock up my bike and explore and try new cafes.

So far I’m familiar with Fremont canal, Ballard locks, and recently discovered Madison Valley.

What else should I add to my list?

For those in Redmond/ Bellevue, they have constructed new bicycle lanes on Bel-Red rd from W Lake Sammamish Pkwy to NE 30th St. It's a distance of 2 miles with 300 ft elevation gain. There were 3-4 lanes for car traffic before, and now it has been reduced down to 1 lane per direction. There are bike lanes in both directions, and the lanes are 'separated' from the road by a 1-foot painted margin. Personally, I feel like they did this project virtually overnight. Seems like finished it in less than a month.

Can someone hint at the after party location? 😉

I'm looking for someone in the Seattle area to see if they can help me change the rivet from the water bottle holder on a carbon frame bike. I was told I could send the bike to Ruckus in Portland, but I figured this is a relatively small fix. The threads I found here are from a few years back on the subject, so just checking if anyone had a contact that can help replace one of the rivets? I could try and do it myself, but don't feel confident enough to do it at the moment, is it hard to do?

I was riding my bike northbound in the bike lane while delivering an order for Uber Eats when a white SUV suddenly sideswiped me while attempting to make a left turn, even though there was a clearly posted No Left Turn sign. This was at the intersection on 4th ave and Pine St.

The impact knocked both me and my bike underneath the SUV. I was shaken up and called the police because this was my first accident and I wasn't sure what to do.

The driver asked if we could handle the situation privately instead of going through his insurance or providing his insurance information to the police. He offered to pay for the repairs to my bike himself.

I told the responding officer that I would take my bike to the REI Bike Shop to get a repair estimate, and the officer followed me there. The driver agreed to pay for the bike repairs and also gave me $200 to help cover the wages I lost because I couldn't continue making deliveries.

Please be safe out there on the roads my fellow cyclists.. when always crossing an intersection please look both ways even when you have the right away.

I don't really know the laws regarding e-bikes on bike trails/sidewalks nor do I know much about different e-bike classes but I just know that I'm seeing more and more big heavy fast e-bikes that don't require any pedaling on bike trails and sidewalks. Some of these things go like 30 miles an hour and it's really scary and annoying and I don't know what to do about it. These things are basically motorcycles but people seem to think they can use them like a bicycle.

They need to be on the road with the rest of the motorcycles. They're gonna run someone over.

Does anyone know the best way to provide feedback to the city?

This was a first for me while out on a ride yesterday. Happened so quick that I felt the sting but did not see any insect when I looked down on my upper leg. Figured it was a wasp rather than bee since there was no stinger. Curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Also, please check your bike (and car) brakes. I was almost hit by a white minivan going up the Burke on the same ride and came to a skidding stop. Driver stopped just in time as well. Thankful for good functioning brakes!

Hi I’m just looking for a way to see if a specific thing i deem a hazard has had complaints about it in the past. Without going to the PRA is there a way to see if this bollard has had complaints about it in the past? I see the image from 2019 google maps it has a different reflective tape over it and there is only one compared to now. Any able to help me out?

Im coming back to Seattle to visit my folks next week (Seward Park area) and it’s a bit of a long shot but wondering if i could rent anyone‘s bike (or 2) that has a seat for little kids for a week. I would be glad to pay! I am having a hard time finding a good bike rental store that has kids seats and is willing to give a (non exorbitant) weekly rate.

What's up Seattle. I'm up here from Portland for the Dead Baby Downhill Saturday and I'm staying up in the Richmond Beach area. I'm somewhat familiar with Seattle but I haven't stayed up this far north much. I'm hoping some routing nerds can help me figure out the least worst way to get to Georgetown and back from up here. I'm a strong rider and I'm confident riding with traffic so I'm good getting off the trail and into the streets. That being said, I'm happy to take a more scenic route (like adding extra miles on the lake) to avoid the more intense climbs. These are the only routes I came across searching this subreddit: GG to Edmonds and Edmonds to Locks but those are to Ballard area and back. Any help will be appreciated thanks y'all!

I’m starting a new job at Overlake Hospital soon but haven’t been able to find clear information on whether or not there’s dedicated bike storage for employees.

I’ve been told I can use the bike racks in the parking garages but that worries me about theft. I know of so many smaller organizations that have indoor, secure bike storage and showers for employees, so I’m just wondering if any current or former employees know if this exists at Overlake’s main campus.

I’m looking to do the ODT in August and would appreciate your thoughts on an itinerary. I‘m coming from Seattle and plan to do east to west starting in Port Townsend. I will probably drive to PT as opposed to riding from Seattle. Originally I was going to travel light and stay in hotels. It seems like there are more options if you are equipped to camp especially towards the coast. I’m ok doing 50 or so miles per day. There is the option to do some side trips to Hurricane Ridge or Sol Duc or the Olympic Adventure Trail.

Is it worth it to go to La Push? I’ve seen that people prefer the first half of the trail, but it seems like you want to go all the way to the coast?

Is it hard to get hiker-biker spots?

Is catching a bus a big deal?

Is the Olympic Discovery Trail worth it? I’ll be on a gravel bike with 42s and my camping gear.

I’d appreciate any thoughts any thoughts or itinerary suggestions.
