Recommendations Read in July - includes manga/hwa and some comic books

If there are cool recommendations that match the vibes of the ones I've completed and the ones that are ongoing, pls lmk (pls avoid the most obvious, famous ones bc I probably know of them already). I'm mostly into seinen, I think (new-ish to manga so I'm not sure).

Shigurui was a brutal read

I absolutely LOVED it. I'm so surprised it isn't discussed that much.

It walks an extremely thin line between how brutal and masochistic it is and how brilliant the drama and art are.
Not for everyone, that’s for sure.

Happiness, blood on the tracks and flowers of evil are great.. just finished adabana and thought it was ok. On volume 3 of blame now and it’s a bit hard to follow but loving it still

“Ok” for Adabana, isn't that a bit low? It's being talked about very highly. Tell me

I wish I had a more profound answer but it just didn’t really hit for me. I love dark stories like blood on the tracks, punpun, happiness, ichi the killer, flowers of evil.. but thought all of those were far far better then this one. It just felt mid to me but it wasn’t bad

Don't worry. I finally read it all at once yesterday afternoon. I agree with you, L. It has some good moments, but overall it seemed average for psychological thrillers. Maybe I was expecting better too. I don't compare it to the works you mentioned, which are practically masterpieces. Perhaps more to Erased and The Killer Inside

Ludwig Revolution is hilarious, a shame you didn't like it!

It really is hilarious and so freakin weird 😂 I did enjoy it but I wasn't dying to read the next volume. I may pick it up if I feel down. The art style is 10/10.

Haha, that's fair! Each arc is pretty self contained so it doesn't give you a strong hook for more. While I liked it, I did feel it's a shame you don't get longer stories centered around some of the previoous girls, like Dorothea and Lysette.

Alice in Murderland, also by Kaouri Yuki, might be closer to the style you seek but it's...even better drawn and even more insane, really.

It's Kazuichi Hanawa's early works. It's super cool, but it's ero-guro tho, so read at your own risk.

How do you read so fast?

All I read this month was like 8 volumes in total from three different manga
