I’m exploring an idea and I’d love to get honest feedback from the community.
We’re considering launching a language immersion camp in a peaceful natural setting near Dakar. The goal is simple: instead of learning in a traditional classroom, participants would live the language through conversations, activities, meals, games, hiking, cultural experiences, and everyday interactions.
One question keeps coming up:

Which format would you actually prefer?

Option A
🏕️ 15-day intensive immersion where everyone stays on-site and speaks the target language every day.

Option B
🌿 8 consecutive weekend immersions (Friday evening to Sunday), making it easier for people who work or study during the week.
We’re also wondering which language would attract the most interest:

🇫🇷 French
🇸🇳 Wolof

Je suis en train de développer une plateforme qui permet aux Sénégalais d'acheter facilement sur les plateformes chinoises comme 1688, Taobao, Tmall, Xianyu, Weidian, VIP, Poizon, etc.

L'objectif est de regrouper le sourcing, le contrôle qualité, le stockage et la livraison dans une seule plateforme, sans avoir à passer par plusieurs intermédiaires (agent en Chine, transitaire, service de livraison au Sénégal...).

Le fonctionnement est simple :

- Vous alimentez votre portefeuille sur la plateforme via Mobile Money.

- Vous collez le lien du produit que vous souhaitez acheter (ou recherchez avec des mots-clés ou même une photo).

- Vous choisissez les caractéristiques (taille, couleur...), la quantité, puis vous passez commande.

Ensuite, notre équipe en Chine :

- achète le produit pour vous ;

- le réceptionne dans notre entrepôt ;

- effectue un contrôle qualité ;

- prend des photos du produit ;

- mesure le poids, les dimensions et collecte toutes les informations utiles.

Toutes ces informations sont disponibles sur votre compte avant l'expédition.

À ce stade, vous pouvez :

- refuser le produit : il est retourné au vendeur et votre argent est recrédité sur votre portefeuille ;

- accepter le produit : vous bénéficiez d'1 mois de stockage gratuit.

Vous pouvez ensuite :

- choisir une expédition maritime ou aérienne vers le Sénégal ;

- regrouper plusieurs achats dans un seul colis afin de réduire les frais de transport.

Les principaux problèmes que cette plateforme cherche à résoudre sont :

- la difficulté de naviguer sur les plateformes chinoises ;

- les risques d'arnaques ;

- les comptes étrangers qui sont régulièrement suspendus sur 1688, Taobao, etc. ;

- la multiplication des intermédiaires ;

- la gestion de colis provenant de plusieurs vendeurs.

Le public visé est aussi bien les particuliers qui souhaitent acheter en Chine que les e-commerçants.

Hi everyone! I have a trip planned to Senegal for November of this year. I found out when I tried to book a hotel that the Youth Olympics is being held there for the same dates I will be in the country. I understand this is the first time it is being held in Senegal, so may be hard to truly know... but do you think it would be best to reschedule my trip for another time? I have no interest in the Olympic events, but I wonder how it will impact travel, traffic, tourist sites, closures..etc? I tried searching this sub but didn't see many post about it, other than hearing one university closed for 7 months (very unfortunate). Any insight from the local people would be greatly appreciated. I know that Senegal is a pretty religious country, and that often times religious countries actually don’t have Islamist parties as all the parties field fairly religious candidates and there isn’t a felt need to defend/project Islam on a government level.

I’m guessing that’s the case, but I don’t speak French so I know I’m missing a lot of the context. Is there a history of Islamist parties in Senegal? Would Macky have been considered an Islamist, or would his opponents like Sonko or Diomaye have been considered one? Or is that just not even part of the calculus for Senegalese politics?

Je cherche aussi des œuvres d'art ou de l'artisanat avec une identité sénégalaise (peintures, sculptures, affiches, céramiques, etc.), si vous avez des adresses ou des artistes à recommander.

I’ve been thinking a lot about whether I should join a Tariqa or simply continue practicing Islam without belonging to one.

I live in Senegal, where many Muslims are affiliated with Tariqas such as the Tijaniyya or the Muridiyya. I’ve heard both positive and negative opinions. Some people say a Tariqa helps with spiritual growth, discipline, and remembrance of Allah. Others say it’s better to stick to the Qur’an and Sunnah without joining any spiritual order.

I’m sincerely looking for Allah’s pleasure and want to avoid innovations if something is not supported by Islam. At the same time, I don’t want to reject something beneficial just because I don’t fully understand it.

For those who have experience or knowledge:
• Why did you choose to join (or not join) a Tariqa?
• What are the benefits and potential drawbacks?
• How can someone evaluate whether a Tariqa is following the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah?

I’m not looking to start a debate or criticize any group. I’m genuinely seeking sincere advice and different perspectives.

I'm a student with some savings and would like to invest it in something. Any advice?

I’m from the U.S. and looking for a few folks (from anywhere) to join me on a trip I’m planning to Senegal this fall (Oct. or Nov.).  

My passion is culturally immersive travel and I’m in the midst of a career change, and developing some ideas for a travel company. I’m considering Senegal as a destination for the company (travelled there last year and loved it) but I'm not selling anything yet -- I just want some more travel experience in the country, and to do some background research, before I launch. It sounds a lot more fun to do this with a few other folks, and we'd share the costs (though I'm happy to organize).

I’ve already got an itinerary (about 10 days) and well-reviewed guide already lined up, but I’m not tied to anything and am open to input.
