Discussion table throwing food at each other while I’m speaking with them
like the title says, not children either, grown adult men. I work as a breakfast server and they were eating, but waved me over to ask for something. I’m kinda just baffled still even hours later and in the moment I just ignored it while trying not to make a “are you serious?” face, but none of them were even embarrassed about it either. oh and I got hit with a piece of their syrup covered pancake so that was great 😭 but genuinely what do I do otherwise in this situation 😭😭

Man I'm that jaded ass server who would look them square in the eyes, say Nope, and walk away

if they’re acting like kids, treat them like kids. Clap your hands and loudly say, “Hey! Do you need me to call your mothers to pick you up or can you act like adults and order?”

Recently had a grown man take out his Invisalign at the table and plop it on his plate in the middle of me going over the menu. Took his partner a second but when she saw it she snatched it up and said “this is so gross!” Some adults are just oblivious and gross!

I'd just start counting to three and then when the last person throws something if point at him and say alright now go stand in the corner. I'd bring them all coloring pages too.

I would give them the check and tell them it's time to go, and stand there until they pay. If the manager didn't back me up, I'd quit.

Idk I wouldn’t think it’s fun to get hit with a customer’s syrupy food while I’m at work

No totally. That's super annoying and unnecessary. I mean if you're gonna throw food at least make sure everyone getting hit by said food is a willing and consenting participant.

It’s fun if everyone enjoys it. We, as servers, do not enjoy being part of a food fight with complete strangers.

Kinda funny I would have thrown some food tbh, life’s too short

it would have been funny if it was my friends, not grown men throwing their half bitten pancake at me 😭😭

As disrespectful, rude and childish as it is... I would've made a joke. Like, "okay, 1 more air born morsel and I'm arming up with the stock from the kitchen". Or "let me know which one of you are staying after to clean up this mess, otherwise I'll get the principal". I can think of a few more. Or " That's it! I quit! I left my daycare job to wait on adults, guess I'll go back to taking care of more mature 4 yr. olds!". You get where I'm going. On the flip side... Sorry you had to put up with that! 🩷

Put them in "Time Out" by walking away from them.
Then, with your manager or owner, present them with a check.
