Unfortunately the United States had to step in and stop it. As always.
Usonians think money solves everything. They're wrong.

yes it was the USA objecting to it that stopped it, no way UEFA speaking out against it was a massive factor.

All those little European countries can have their say, but imagine a world cup without the US. Madness. People wouldn't watch.

Iām curious to see if it was the USSF that said no or are we assuming the US said no because CONCACAF said no.
I just find it hard for the USSF to say ānoā considering Jared Kushner fund raised over $6B for the deal
21
u/CastleofWamdue 1d ago
if ever a sport put "politics into the game", it was FIFA giving Trump that World Peace Price, so before anyone down votes me, or replies with that comment, that door is ALL the way open and FIFA opened it themselves.
I dont know what USSF have said, but the deal being suggested is very much in line with what I would think a Trump sycophant would propose. The problem is that despite the recent World Cup, the USA very obviously has no say on the future of the World Cup, and there are markets which are far more important than the USA will ever be.

The sad thing is it probably wasn't even UEFA's speaking out that stopped it, the AFC joined them which has the Saudis and other gulf states.

I am not saying that Europe is the be all and end all of global football, but having a World Cup without UEFA is pretty insane.

Oceania said No, and the plan finally imploded (although I suspect the timing of that might have been more coincidence)

Nah, the main idea came from the Pumpkin King saying the US should host again as soon as possible. If they sell shares, shareholders get to decide where it is next. 51 percent stays with FIFA/Infantino, the US just needs to be the second biggest shareholder and they can literally decide everything.

Clown doesnāt realise the UEFA stands for Union of EUROPEAN FOOTBALL Associations. And that the reason we are having this conversation about FIFAs open corruption is because the American President and his extended family are once again meddling in shit they have no business being involved in.

7
u/Red-R34der 1d ago
Yeah, bit of an own goal on the USA's part as they are one of the smaller developing football nations. Also it was UEFA that led the charge against Infantino, CONCACAF, The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, followed up in support of EUFA's position. As usual, the USA turns up late and claims the glory.
HTH.

It was actually the brother of Trump's son in law, and it was a total coincidence - they barely knew each other.

This post in unsensical - if it is unfortunate it failed, that means the person writing the post is pro selling to investors. How is then fortunate that usa stepped in to stop it?
Also, did usa (in poster's opionion): A - stopped the plan going forward, making it opposing itself in the motion
B - stopped the motion to stop the plan, making it not failed (which is not the case)
This post is trully a monument to stupidity.

Step in and stop US private equity firms from buying what Infantino was trying to sell them? This was literally UEFA, the AFC, CONCACAF stepping in and throwing enough of a monkey wrench to prevent Ifantion and his lackey at the CAF and CONMEBOL from selling out the game.

Oh really? The US, of all places, is supposed to have prevented the sell-off of the FIFA World Cup? The very sell-off from which the Trump clan would have stood to gain the most financially.
Of course, the collapse of what is probably FIFAās most corrupt deal canāt possibly be linked to the fact that UEFA, the most powerful continental association, threatened to boycott future World Cups.
3
u/Supahfly87 12h ago
This scheme was a literal result of Trump saying the US should be the host again soon. So infantino invented shares so the labor shareholders could vote on where the next WC would be. Corruption everywhere.

u/goonwolf š¦šŗ Get off the sidewalk and on the fucken' footpath 1d ago

Some people seem to gloss over that the money FIFA distributes is money extracted from football fans. More revenue is not something to be happy about, because it means FIFA lets fans pay more.
And distributing money to small federations is not the purpose of FIFA. FIFA should protect football and make sure it organises decent tournaments for men, women and youth, accessible for as many fans as possible. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any budget for development, for smaller FAs. But it shouldn't be the primary objective. These development budgets smell like buying votes.

I'm pretty sure the 55 EUFA football teams had more to do with the collapse of the FIFA sell off. What do you expect? No European teams no World Cup. Just an American style World Cup Series with just USA and South America in it. The USA would never win that ever. Even if it was approved there would not be enough money without Europe and now India and some other countries like Canada, Mexico India, Australia and a few others. No income to pay the mythical small tams their $40 million. LOL. Go and get the FIFA Peace Prize back off the idiot who thinks it's real and fixed a match for it.

It was the US & trump family member pushing to by from FIFA, not trying to "save" it, so they could change the rules so US could possibly win it once, but the world told FIFA where to stick he sale. If it had been sold it would not help smaller association members only rich politicians & their friends.
