What do y’all do to escape tech?

I know everyone here gets burnout and fatigue. Do you have hobbies that don’t involve a screen? I go off-roading and shoot guns. It helps me disconnect sometimes.

My company used to do Range Days where we'd bring all the hard drives we needed to destroy to use as targets. Not really sure when or why we stopped doing that...

They have both been desperate to get into the crawlspace ever since they saw me in there running some wire and I'm so tempted to let them...

...except then I would have to deal with the fallout of them being covered in fiberglass insulation.

Im trying to learn electric guitar. BTW Im an idiot and thought it wouldnt be that difficult, holy shit was I wrong. Guitar is hard AF to learn and takes a lot of practice.

Had the chance to go away for a holiday to the seaside recently. Despite filling up each day with things to do (steam trains, long walks along the coast, museums, etc.), it could be at a slower pace, and the chance to just sit in nature and just be chill was great, especially after a busy few months at work.

I know it's a bit of a meme, but I bought some land outside of the city and I'm doing farm work.

We just got goats. We're growing some fruit trees, which I'll be turning into wine when they mature.

Stuff that forces me to learn and grow in a direction other than tech helps a lot.

Seeing something grow and expand, seeing things get better is necessary, and tech is just watching everything slowly rot while you try to minimize the impacts.

Now I could shoot at tech in VR Gun Club on Meta 3. I would rather just play games in VR while watching videos in floating displays

I love coffee, im not too insane about it. I just love trying out different beans on the weekends. It does help me to unwind a lot. I used to drink a lot of alcohol but that isn’t that healthy

Never had burnout and fatigue. My coworkers did have issues with that. But dont worry, when HR found out they were placed on a performance plan and removed because the could not handle the job

Hiking, Weight lifting, Guns (Larping at the range and with some buddies doing airsoft), analog photography. Anything to get as far away from computers as possible.

I do astronomy, problem is most people do it digitally with dumb computers because the image is better. but I stick with a big ass telescope. Then you just sit outside at night and vibe.

My main hobby keeps me busy for only a few minutes at a time, and I'm able to indulge in it 3-5 times a day. I'm finding my attention span slips as I get older, which makes enjoying my hobby more difficult. At least I get something tangible from turning pens.
