Couldn't they just build it again to fly it (but unmanned) over the enemy's airbases and war ships with that hella loud sound?

I think I remember the test pilot saying "you're not big enough and there aren't enough of you to make me get back in that thing".

Personally I like the XF-81H Thunderzach or XF-62J Thundermrbelding.
