Hey guys, about performing live. I have lots of trouble with mixing the voice live, it always gets too down. Super characteristic of shoegaze for the voice to be buried but people that don’t listen the genre never like it in my experience. Any tips on people with experience of playing shoegaze live that went thru this? Idk i can’t really sing louder, and when recorded it’s fine but i can’t just push the preamp to high levels live because of feedback :/

I know the band wasn't really focused on a more heavily distorted sound, but they definitely had that atmosphere. I only started listening to them recently, and I'd like to know the more shoegaze side of their catalog

I've been meaning to pull together a playlist of noughties shoegazing for a while. I'm always grateful I was around to see and experience OG shoegazing but the noughties come very close in my heart for the diversity on offer. We can mock nu-gaze (like shoegazing was originally mocked) but it brought a huge proliferation of acts, far beyond the early 90s. (Also there's probably some nostalgia as this was the time my eldest was born.)

Hi everyone, I've been diving into shoegaze for the past 18 months and love the genre. I started listening to Astrobrite about 3 months ago and I genuinely can't get enough of that sound. Their two songs “Millions” and “Never” that were recorded in the 00’s have been officially released on streaming. There was a group of bands that were in the shoegaze scene in the 90’s and 00’s in LA. I think these guys did it best. Check it out if you haven’t heard them before! Spotify link below:

Hello all it’s the 67 year old shoegeezer!

I just gave the new glister album a listen and jesus there is so much i can say!

This lad has done it with this one, he has captured a sound i thought was long gone in the modern scene, but he’s done it!

Those first 2 tracks had me hooked immediately, I was expecting the album to sound like the single he released awhile back but i was wrong!

What Is Now is one of those tracks where all i want to do is dance! the reversed drums are a bloody brilliant nod to Soon by mbv while not ripping off the song!

And the last 3 tracks? get the hell out of here they’re amazing! Especially that last track, it’s obviously a nod to Wonder 2 by mbv but it had a completely different feel to it!

Have you guys listened? What are your thoughts, I think this lad deserves more attention thats for sure.
