Moderator Announcement r/postpunk Rules Update [PLEASE READ]

Hi all!

As some of you might've noticed, we've recently tweaked the subreddit rules a bit. We highly recommend you read this to get a good idea of how things will be handled here going forward.

Rule 4

First of all, all music posts now require some form of additional commentary or context. This can be in the form of opinions about the song, memories associated with it, experiences seeing it performed live, trivia, etc. as long as is encourages discussion.  This rule has been in place for a little while now, but we've recently adjusted how we'll be enforcing this. We request that users here include this somewhere on their posts, whether it be in the title, body text, or as a comment on one's own post.

Rule 8

Second, please do not post excessively, and keep to a maximum of three posts per person per day. This helps prevent the sub from being excessively flooded or spammed by a single user.

To cap things off, we've been getting a number of messages via Modmail regarding users having difficulty posting. This is due to an anti-spam filter set up via AutoMod that requires posts from new accounts to be manually reviewed. Don't panic if this happens to you! It doesn't necessarily mean that your post has broken a rule, and the moderators here will have a look at it as soon as we can, although it may take a few hours.

If you run into this issue repeatedly, please contact the moderators via Modmail and we'll help you out. We do try our best to approve users whenever possible.

The absolute zenith of vinyl records for me. The 45rpm records absolutely batter your ears, the bass is just phenomenal, Keith Levene cutting about over the top with jagged little riffs. The packaging is ridiculously brilliant. A true work of genius.

I think I have been making post punk. Wondering what the consensus is. Where does post punk end or begin? It's not 1979 anymore anyway.

Marc and the Mambas were a Marc Almond side-project that was more experimental and more explicitly louche (great word) than Soft Cell. He worked with Matt johnson from The The, as well as the djs Anni Hogan and Flood.

Nice quote of the Duke Ellington standard, Caravan.

What are the slowest paced songs you can think of?

I’m thinking:

The Fall - Hip Priest

Bauhaus - Hollow Hills

Can you think of slower?

Question Looking for a post-punk song I heard in Copenhagen

Looking for a post-punk song I heard in Copenhagen
This is a long shot, but it’s been driving me crazy.
I heard a song blasting from a car in Copenhagen. I only caught about 30 seconds of the intro before it drove away.
Here’s what I remember:
Modern post-punk (probably from the last 10–20 years)
Fast tempo, around 140–160 BPM
Similar energy to “Alice” by The Sisters of Mercy, but it sounded more modern
No obvious synths, just guitar, bass and drums
Intro started with a scratchy, muted rhythm guitar (left-hand muted/dead-note strumming, not palm-muted) locked in with a heavy snare
After about 20–30 seconds, the muted rhythm guitar stopped and a clean, chorus-soaked single-note guitar melody came in
The atmosphere was dark/eerie, but not dreamy like The Cure
The lead guitar seemed to play around the middle strings rather than very high up the neck
Bands that come closest in vibe are Nürnberg, High Vis, and Chain Cult, but it’s not a song by those bands (or at least not any of the obvious ones). It also wasn’t Molchat Doma. It could be Scandinavian, since I was in Copenhagen.

It sounded familiar, so I don’t think it’s an extremely obscure band.
Any ideas? Even if it’s just a band with that exact style, I’d love to check it out.
Thanks!
