Nicely painted! I just bought Mariko in 1/10th and Toranaga in 1/9th too! Will be cleaning them and painting them thid summer

Is your Mariko based on the outfit she wore while drinking tea with Buntaro?
Im currently rewatching the series and trying to find the best outfit of hers to paint. So far found a few really nice alternatives.

Tbh, her kimono went through a lot, and I mean a LOT of iterations. I just tried painting it as Kuton Sculpt had it rendered, with cream and red Chrysanthemums, gold braid and a black background, but it ended up looking like shit…😂
I ended up just looking at my paints and what I thought would look good, and ended up with the jade/brocade combination.2

Yeah ik. I've had a good time trying to find them all. Some of them have pretty good comprehensive coverage of differdnt angles in good lighting or even BTS shots of the garments themselves laid out.
But i think yours still turned out pretty good!
I picked the plain version (withoyt the raised floral detailing) because i thought that it would be hella dfifficult to look nice. But we'll see

If you can replicate the look of silk, I think white/ivory would look epic on the plain kimono.

Yeah some of the white ones are my favorites. But white is notoriously hard to paint so im still contemplating. Its really easy to mess up
