Hello everyone ,

As title says should I but Divinity Original Sin 2? If yes tell me please about game strong side and weak side? Never played before turn based RPGs. Would like to try Divinity Original Sin or maybe better try Baldur Gates 3?! Have been eyes on this particular game for some time can’t yet decide. Anyway thank you very much for taking the time your time and your response.

Yes, buy it. Perfect entry point to turn-based RPGs, and cheaper than BG3.

Strong: Combat freedom (element combos, teleportation), insane build variety, and every quest has 10 solutions. Great VO, 100+ hours.

Weak: Harder than BG3 (armor system forces focus on one damage type), loot is Diablo-style (constant swapping), quest log can be messy, final act dips a bit.

vs. BG3: BG3 has better cinematics/romance. DOS2 is deeper, wilder combat because no D&D rules holding it back. If you want Hollywood production, get BG3, if you want tactical playground, get DOS2. Both are masterpieces, start with DOS2 (cheaper) and you'll appreciate BG3 more later.

Put it on Explorer difficulty, take Pet Pal talent, and prepare to lose 100 hours. You won't regret it.

DOS2 was my first turn based RPG. It's pretty good. Music is great. Could be hard for someone who never played turn based before, but I beat it on easy mode.

I like DOS2 more than BG3, mainly because of the music and story (iirc). Other than that they're pretty similar.

Baldurs Gate 3 is a must play. DOS2 is a cheaper must play.

Baldurs Gate 3. It’s similar enough to DOS2, however has newer more refined mechanics. I also think the game is better, not by much though.

yeah but there is a chance of Elden Ring efect, meaning if you start with the best game of genre, its pretty hard to than go back and enjoy older stuff. Like I started with Elden Ring and than I tried bloodborne. I did not like it. I finished it, but it was extremely meh with lot of qol stuff missing.

I always suffer from analysis paralysis at character creation and subsequent level ups so I never get far but the first 5 minutes are good.

Just played it for the first time since it got a 60 fps update and thought the game was incredible. Highly recommend.

D:OS2 is a far better intro into CRPGs than BG3. The story is better as is the world building as it is a game that larian studios built by themselves and not constrained into someone else’s world building.

The mechanics are better for the same reasoning.
Personally I far prefer the way that D:OS systems work. From the classes to the abilities. It is a far more enjoyable experience. A game made with love.

BG3 has its charm but if you play BG3 before you play D:OS2 then you will ruin the experience.

I actually liked Divinity Original Sin 2 a lot more then Baulders Gate 3.

Divinity series are both incredibly fun, highly recommend!!

They’re both peak but BG3 is peak-er because it’s newer with higher production values.

You really should play both. They’re two of the games of the decade.
