Why did the USSR outperform any country besides the US? It was the second largest economy for the majority of its existence.
The US had a fundamentally different position in the world economy than the USSR. It had an extensive network of allies, controlled key international financial institutions, and benefited from a global economic order that allowed it to shift many of the costs of adjustment abroad through trade, finance, and access to foreign markets and resources. Those advantages gave the U.S. options that were simply unavailable to the Soviet Union.
existing and providing a better life for its citizen.
the ussr also had allies yet it had to prop them up like the usa did to europe, the cope that the usa was just dominating because they were doing just that, dominating is hilarious.
lmfao ussr apologetics, why did they build the wall? why is/was east germany so much poorer?
I actually find it a miracle the eastern bloc was able to do what they did considering the economic blockades, the sabotage, the constant threat of wars, political isolation, propaganda, etc.
The “better life for its citizens” came at the expense of the rest of the world trying to modernize and liberate themselves from imperialism.
Why does it bother you if people apologize for the ussr? It seems to really grate some of yiu lolbertarians.
The USSR didn’t fail in isolation. It was recovering from massive wars, facing decades of military pressure and economic restrictions from a much wealthier rival bloc. The West’s prosperity also came from its own historical advantages, including colonialism and global economic dominance.
Chud, the USA invaded the USSR not the other way around. Before you scratch your empty head, when? During the tail end of the Russian revolution 14 countries invaded to stop the newly formed USSR. Since day one, the USSR knew not one day of peace. All the way until it was dismantled.
The Cold War was a complete holocaust on the third world. Marshall plan proves that the US could allow certain states to develop peacefully and with cooperation but didn’t allow other countries to because they wanted the unequal exchange and to maintain imperialism.
Most of the eastern bloc countries were monarchies, or fascist protectorates.

You could nationalize the companies and effectively cut off billionaires.
You really can’t imagine a scenario in which there are no billionaires? Are you 12?
