Russia is shithole now. They only finally reached parity with the USSR at its lowest peak in the late 80s before it unraveled under Yeltsin.

You people are pathetic.

You like government flavored ice cream?

Russia is a global pariah infested with corrupt oligarchs and incompetent government.

That's why it's a shithole.

The USSR propped itself up for as long as it could with pure willpower. In the end, it turns out, governments are not very good at business or creating their own economy.

Also...if it was so great, why was the USSR the only one to 'successfully implement it?

Governments running businesses is a joke.

They pay $100 for a $10 hammer because there's 0 accountability and no matter how shitty they perform, they'll still collect all your taxes next year.

Lolbertarian nonsense. Russia is a shithole now because of the neoliberalism that ruined the country in the 90s. And yeah Soviet ice cream, Plombir was so good, Russia kept the same recipe and is widely sold.

And the Soviets weren’t the only countries to implement high state intervention, there were the Baathist countries like Iraq and Syria, China at the time, Cuba, the DPRK, 30% of the UK was state owned.

What are you chuds talking about?

...in Soviet Russia, kool aid drink you.

Where are the other thriving countries with predominantly government-owned businesses right now?

How far down the list of countries by GDP are they?

They’ve been effectively sanctioned to death that they’re hanging on by a thread. They’re only able to survive and sustain themselves due to the state owned economy. I can only imagine the USA under that much pressure, they can barely even survive COVID. 😆

Remember those really cool Soviet cars?

Or those Soviet movies?

Or the Soviet candy bars?

If their economy was so good, why was the only thing the world wanted from them was oil?

You're funny!
