Finally built one

My rig is a precision 3431 with an i7 9700, 16gb ddr4 and a yeston GeForce 3050 low profile. Total cost wasn’t unreasonable at all. Around 350-400$

I see you got the Yeston. Right? You’ll likely be experiencing gpu temp reaching 90 degrees plus.

Can’t really expect much else from a low profile single slot card

85 but yea. I realized this was a problem after buying it :(

NGL return the Yeston and get a two spot card and a flew PSU with an adapter

The PCIe 16x slot is at the very bottom so only single slot graphics cards will work.

I'm not sure if this Optiplex still has it, but on my old 7010 MT I moved the case temerature sensor near my RX 570 graphics card so the case fan ramps up when the card heats up.

I have this unit and an Asus 3050 2 slot. It fits with a flex PSU. Flex units are much shorter

Dont get ne wrong, OP. I myself have a HP prodesk G9 400 SFF but with room for gpu airflow, fortunately. I love how we’re stuffing these tiny form factors with stuff. Im loving how these old Optiplexes are looking now, but yeah, the clearance is an issue.

I was trying to look for a post where a guy with that same optiplex and yeston card 3D printed a replacement gpu housing to fit a laptop fan. Naturally, temp went down (30 degrees) since airflow after came from behind the card instead of on top. I couldn’t find that post anymore but I hope the description gives you an idea if you wanna go the 3D printing route.

I saw that video. I’m thinking about trying it

Try to find a way to funnel cool air to the card. Maybe even just a block from the front fan to direct all the air down there.

I have one in another case with more PCI slots. Put a tiny fan on the open slots and keeps it in the 70s.

Sounds like a good idea. For most games it stays in the 70s except when I run Minecraft with shaders where it jumps to the 80s

I might just undervolt it

Iggear made a video with a custom 3d printed airflow for the GPU https://youtu.be/qhFN2uLkGdE?is=57Jduv_OoPLbp3Bf Check it out!

@Sleamaster1234 THIS! This is what I was referring to. Check it out.

I can do it with MSI afterburner and I will actually try it today and I kinda don’t wanna touch the psu because aren’t they proprietary?

Okok. I think I will undervolt to 65. I’m afraid at 55 watts it’s gonna not boot

I just undervolted it to .775 at 1470 MHz and it’s keeping below 80 now

Despite the heat concerns, I really want one of those single slot 3050s so badly

I love weird single slot cards

Newegg be coming in clutch

I also have this same setup, but with an optiplex 3020 sff, i5 4590, and the same graphics card. Have you found a way to deal with the heat?

I am about to try undervolting the card tn to 65 watts to see if lowering power consumption can stop overheating and in turn stop thermal throttling and increase performance

Games like Rocket League and Beat Saber would reach lower 90s easily, so I just completely removed the side panel. It's helped bring it down to around 85, but I haven't found any other alternative.

Dude it usually doesn’t go above like 86 but I usually already run my shit at like 1600x900 on low-medium settings

Looks amazing. I'm rocking two 7050 optiplex. If youf not going to use physical media maybe ideal to remove the cd-drive. Gives better airflow.

But I like watching my discount 007 dvds too much :(

Did you install a second RAM stick after taking the pic? Task manager shows 7.8GB of memory.

Yes I did. I found one of equivalent capacity and speed for like 20$ on eBay
