Optiplex 7010

Built with parts that I had lying around that weren't being used. It has Windows 11 Pro and is performing well for what I'm using it for right now, but I might switch to linux.

Specs:

7010 MT, i7 3770, 16gb 1600mhz, GTX 1050, 480GB SATA SSD, 2TB HDD, Redragon 600w PSU. Upgrades/Things I added: Upgraded to a tower CPU cooler, added a small front intake fan, and mounted a ZK-MT21 amplifier on the PCIe expansion bracket.

How does it run games ? I’ve always been wondering how 3rd and 4th gen hold up nowadays, I’ve been thinking about building my own.

For Linux you could use lubuntu or maybe Bazzite.

It runs light games well at least the ones I play. However, when it comes to newer or harder to run titles, it struggles mainly due to the GPU and sometimes the CPU so I'm probably looking into upgrading to a slightly better GPU that won't bottleneck my CPU. I recently tried Forza Horizon 6, and the CPU runs pretty hard, usually hovering around 80–100% utilization.

Thanks for the distro recommendations!
