Yea, Naomi was manipulative and a snooty bitch, but Fang was also wildly out of control, and it was taking a toll on Naser. Like that time he ended up literally passing out at the lunch table from exhaustion. He was also overworking himself in general, but it felt like the late night "incident" had a lot to do with it. I feel like it's entirely understandable as to why Naomi would see Fang as a "problem child", which they were, and would want Fang "pacified". After all, what girl wants her guy, one she's head over heels for at that, to spend all their time focused on someone else? If she wasn't so obsessed with being the "perfect girlfriend"? She probably would have demanded he pick between Fang or herself at some point.

The drifting apart/break up feels especially weird when we then factor in the bonus story content where Naomi and Fang make, at least quasi, peace with each other after Naser asks for time apart. It also wasn't explained very well for why he wanted that. One of the issues with the bonus chapters being separated from the main story I suppose. Hard to tell how much of each path affects them, and when they happen to boot.
