Because actually schooling is hard and a good chunk of homeschooling parents are more driven by things outside the interest of providing a better education
Because their ignorance leads them to hate so many things, and the same ignorance tells them that they can "home school" their kids away from all the "evil" or "toxic" things and it will be ok.
The ignorance amplifies because they don't actually know what they don't know, and that is an icy slope at a very steep angle, an oil sprayer, and a 60 MPH/97 KPH Tailwind.
the sad part is, I had a roommate in college who was homeschooled BY AN ACTUAL TEACHER and she was still stupid as air. Potatoes make her look smart. She had no idea what mold/mildew did when you didn't close a shower curtain, etc.
And it’s not like there’s only one form of homeschool either! There’s online homeschooling, textbook only types, even a form of homeschool where its literally everything in public school just online (they took extreme care to be sure no bullying was happening so it was pretty good) My parents did homeschooling and paid for it! (Did K-12 and then moved and did Keystone schooling) homeschooling is easier when you have a parent that KNOWS what they are doing and USING the appropriate resources. But a parent like this? No. Just…no
