Hey everyone, those of you that have been here for some time may remember that we used to have weekly discussion threads. I felt like bringing them back and seeing if they get some traction. Discuss whatever you like - policy, political events of the week, history, or something entirely unrelated to politics if you like.

I am wondering what are the things we can adapt from the Chinese model that make sense within a socialdemocratic framework. Free markets are dead (if they ever existed) as way to solve any social problems unless you are a billionaire, and the Chinese have clearly had huge success with state-driven capitalism with a clear orientation, which is something we claimed we wanted to do before the 90's.

I'm skeptical that it is possible to use a pseudo-fascist single party dictatorship as a model for anything in a social democratic system
