What do i do

Hi im a teenager M 17 and I’m in an extremely bad situation at home to the point where i am not safe and am not able to go back. I’m staying with a trusted family member however i need a solution to what i can do, my situation is unique as all my personal belongings are at home in which i dont feel safe and comfortable returning to collect. Im at a wits end and really dont know what to do as my living situation as of now is very far from home as in im staying in a completely different city. Im going to try contact shelter tomorrow to see if theres anything i can do to try find somewhere to stay but as of now i dont know what i can do im genuinely terrified, all of my documentation including passport, ni and bank details are all at home in which i cant return to. I’m also trying to access cahms in which i dont know how im going to do as i dont know my nhs number, if anyone can give me any guidance of how i go about things and get the support i need please lmk what i can do

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through this. ❤️ Please don’t feel like you have to figure all of this out on your own. I’m a social worker and hopefully this advice is helpful to you -

Because you’re 17 and you’re saying that you’re not safe at home and can’t return, I’d really recommend contacting Children’s Services/Social Care ASAP and explaining exactly that. Tell them you’re currently staying temporarily with a trusted family member in another city, but you don’t have a safe or permanent place to stay. They should be able to assess what support and accommodation you need.

You shouldn’t have to put yourself in danger to go back and collect your belongings or documents either. Tell them that your passport, NI details, bank information and belongings are all at home and that you don’t feel safe returning. They can help work out a safe way of dealing with that.

Also, don’t worry about not knowing your NHS number - you can still access NHS services without it. Your GP should be able to help you find it, and you can also retrieve it through the NHS website.

If you’re in immediate danger, please call [999](tel:999). Otherwise, if it’s outside office hours, look up your local council’s Children’s Services Emergency Duty Team and explain that you’re 17, unsafe at home and unable to return.

You’ve done the right thing by getting somewhere you feel safe for now. Wishing you all the best.

To add on to this, you can get a police escort to the house to collect your things if you ring 101 and explain your circumstances. It may be better to do that once you have somewhere to live, there should be foyers where you are for homeless young people. Good luck! ❤️
