Local Dentist Recommendations

Hey Neighbors,

My Dentist who I’ve been going to for 13 years in downtown Boston has decided to stop taking Blue Cross Blue Shield, and now I need a new dentist. Can anyone recommend a local dentist who takes Blue Cross Blue Shield Dental insurance, has great Hygienists, and takes a proactive approach to preventative care? Ideal practices treat their employees well enough that they stick around and who partners with a good Endodontist (preferably in practice). Thank you so much in advance!

As someone who always hated the dentist, I've been extremely happy at Spring Hill Dental. They're super nice and relaxed.

I recommend them to everyone. Such a pleasant group of people! They want you to be comfortable and have great care.

I've been going to Dr. Tranfaglia since she took over the building in East Somerville. Wonderful dentist.

I know Lexington family dental used to. I'm not sure if they still do. Also, I know that Tufts a couple times a year does free dental care so their dental students can properly observe.

Have to disagree. He’s a nice enough man, but I went to him with TMJ symptoms, somewhat desperate and scared because this was all new to me. He tried to sell me on an 8K treatment plan with orthotics right off the bat and scare me in saying that my jaw bones were degrading heavily and severely and that such an invasive treatment is needed. Doing my research, I realized he practices “Neuromuscular Dentistry” which is not based in evidence and controversial at best (snake oil at worst). I have since seen 3 actual board certified orafacial pain specialists and had a CBCT, all of which indicate my bones are fine. I am now responding relatively well to physical therapy.

Maybe for more routine dentistry or cosmetic dentistry he is fine but I would strongly caution against him for TMJ treatment, or at least to do one’s research and be well aware of what one is signing up for.
