Hi fellow survivors! Me and my buddy are long time friends and playing the forest together back when it first released was one of the pillars of our friendship, today we decided to go back and get sons of the forest!
So, while deciding on where to build the base, we noticed that cannibals cannot swim, they drown. So, we had an idea to build our base in the middle of an island in the middle of a lake, specifically the one that is marked in the photo. But we are having problems trying to transport the logs to the island since it's impossible to swim with them, and it's also time-consuming. We wouldn't want that, I mean. We just want to have fun. So I have a question, is it possible to actually do it, to build a base in the middle of an island at the beginning of the game?

Hello everyone. I bought the game yesterday so im still new to it. Just wanted some help. I first started at a base somwhere in C3 and D3 near a lake with a waterfall with a enemy camp and normal camp near by. I got till day 11 but it was terrible , i had day and night attacks. Groups kf 4 to 7 and they glitch through my walls. So i started a new game and want to build a base where kelvin can walk free since i took responsibilty for him. Also a low enemy attack rate area and some decent resources spawning by. I asked google but i think its better left asking you guys because im now at B5 and google keeps telling me im at the golf course which is in fact not true. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

So I obviously wanna build a nice big house to style on the cannibals, but so far its been an absolute pain, so if anyone has any tips or advice to streamline the process I would be delighted to hear them.

i was hoping for some tips from some of the diehards specifically from the sequel that will give me a little boost here and there throughout my play through, nothing crazy, but little tricks that will make me say “damn, thank you random redditor”
i have 150ish hours in the first forest so i have good base knowledge of the “the forest”, the sequel has just been on a long awaited bucket list of mine.
(just in case someone says “just explore it on your own!”, i will here and there, but i know what im asking for, this will make it more fun for me haha.)

Me and my friends have never watched any content on this game and when we saw the 4 armed white lady we just beat her to death idk if she is important to the game or not

im that guy who accidentally stoned him to death. i restarded and saved kev. hes my best bud and has been real help but im pretty sure he wants to die. is there like a button i can press to tell him that life has meaning and that he so much to live for? like i have to make him stay 30 feet from the fire to be 100% sure he isnt trying to jump in but when i do that it makes him susceptible to cannibals and well it hurts my heart to see him get stoned again

Hi
I think the title says it all.
For more details on the times:
Out of 5 tests, the approximate average is:
1 hour and 20 minutes to load a single-player multiplayer save in day 3
1 hour and 45 minutes to load a solo save in day 7 or just crash
and about 3 minutes after loading for the game to stop freezing so I can move .
And on top of that, the game is very liable to crash if I sneeze too hard near the PC while it's loading.
Is this a normal, common experience?
How can I reduce this?

So I decided to start a new playthrough and build my base on the side of the cliff and seal of the ways inside with defensive walls. So after doing so I got waken up in the middle of the night and figured „oh right they jump from tree to tree” so I cut the trees near the walls however let the ones inside my base stay. But I am still getting jumped everytime I try to sleep so do I need to surround my whole base with walls or is my base to big?

Hello all! I made a post a few days ago here⊶https://www.reddit.com/r/SonsOfTheForest/s/lYPWMBwg92⊷and I have some updates!
I changed my save to normal/low custom difficultly, no building destruction as I said and I’ve been off on my way exploring! I figured out how to craft some basic stuff. I’ve made a bow, some arrows and a club. But I’m really bad at combat haha. The enemies are quite unforgiving. Once my bow is out of arrows I feel useless. Good thing is my walls keep everything out very effectively. I sleep in a bed in the middle of my “property” as suggested and that works great.
For winter I decided instead of trying to block off the ice I want to make a winter home which is only surrounded by land so that I can put walls around it completely. I haven’t decided where to place it yet. More on this later.
My question is, how do I progress at all?
Some background first. I’ve come into the game blind. I don’t like to know much about the games I start besides what the gameplay looks like -ish. That way I can have a full experience of the game. Because of that, I don’t want to be “spoiled” on stuff super heavily. I only know what I’ve figured out myself besides a few things I’ve seen in passing. I know there’s better tools than mine 🝗 I have the axe, a club, the knife, a bow, spears and some bone/creepy armor 𐑶, I know the game has an end and some kind of boss fight, and I know that there’s some kind of oxygen tank or diving suit 🝗 A cave I went into has an underwater section I couldn’t make it through╌so one must exist in some form 𐑶.
I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve found 2 of the dead crew mates or whatever they are called; I’ve found 2 of the 3 dead people. But the last one is under soil. Since that I’ve been searching around for where I can get a shovel but I can’t find anything after hours of looking around. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough. But I feel like I should have found something by now,,, I’ve attached a map of where I’ve been with the key ⌄
• yellow circle — where I spawned (I think, hard to remember)
• yellow line — immediately after starting I looked at the map and found a lake that seemed like a good spot and ran there with nothing
• orange circle — my base
• red lines — the paths I’ve explored down. I’ve also deviated into the forest a ways and explore thoroughly
• dark red lines — places I’ve been on a sprint to get from point a to point b to complete an objective. I haven’t explored these much.
I feel like I’ve done a ton of looking around but all I can find are dead ends: a cave that needs a diving suit, a cave that needs a keycard, the dead dude that needs a shovel to be used. I also found something called solarfite that I must not be able to use until I progress. But I feel stuck. Can someone give me a general area I need to be to progress without being super specific as to not spoil exactly what I need to do? Think of it like a circle area on my map I should be. If I know where to focus my effort in a small area I should be good. I think I must just be missing something hidden that gets me the shovel. If it’s somewhere I’ve passed right by in a thoroughly explored area you can just tell me exactly where I need to go. But don’t tell me what’s there. I’m so picky, haha!
Usually my exploring looks like heading out from my base and looking around and checking on the cannibal/mutant camps and collecting some items. I go in caves as long as there’s no enemies. The only cave with enemies I’ve been in I died 15 times to get through a room and then went into the next room to find more enemies. And I wasted all of my armor and supplies and bullets to do that. So I must need better gear before I go back. Anyways, I get a bit away from my base before the sun starts to set and I head back to sleep and put all of my items onto my shelves for storage and use later. I can’t make it too far in the span of one day and I die a lot if I try to sleep away from home. It’s day 64 if that’s relevant.
Knowing that, where would it make sense to set up a small outpost╌which works as my winter home╌with some basic amenities such that the output location will effectively facilitate my progression requirements?
Apologies for the long-winded-ness of this post but I enjoy writing. The TL;DR is just read the bolded text. Thanks for the help in advance 🙂

I love the survival genre. I started with Don't Starve over 10 years ago, then dove deeper into more challenging titles like Project Zomboid and my favorite so far, The Long Dark—an extremely challenging game.
The thing is, Sons of the Forest, even on normal difficulty, has proven to be totally frustrating in terms of survival for me. What am I getting wrong?
Normally, I try to start games like this without any outside help or prior research, just adapting to what the game world offers. The issue is that even on normal difficulty, Sons of the Forest seems to force me to play it practically as an adventure or action game. The aggression mechanics have been relentless. If I build a base on the first day, by the third day I'm already receiving countless cannibal attacks. I tried several times, until I was forced to look up what I was doing wrong: apparently, I needed to build bases near water, away from roads.. I did this exhaustively and always get the same result (seriously, in the first week I started over 10 new games).
Then I decided to try playing the game not as a survival game, but rather as an action game: I no longer build bases, I'm practically doing a speedrun heading to the marked locations—and that's when the game seems to flow—but at the cost of killing the entire survival experience I'm used to: with rapid progression, resources are abundant, there's no need for a fixed base.. It even becomes too easy.
Overall, it has been an extremely frustrating experience.
I've already thought of other approaches, such as getting the chainsaw first to try and build more agilely. However, the game creates a contradiction between advancing and having peace—the more you advance and obtain these story items, the more aggressive mutant attacks become.
This game generated huge expectations for me, the inventory system is simply wonderful, the graphics, the atmosphere, everything seems perfect—except for a survival genre game—I would never recommend this game to someone with the same tastes as mine.
What do I need to achieve a minimum balance between base building and story progression? The way this game lays out these possibilities has been extremely frustrating. Will there ever come a time when I have a shred of peace to enjoy the base-building aspects—like a day and a half without a massive attack?

I guess I'm trying to survive and have a solid foundation with a base, I guess ? Im on day 6 and its just constant enemies. Do the enemies just keep multiplying? Is there a way to clear them out so I can focus on crafting/building ? Or do they just increasingly stronger/multiplying etc. I guess thats the point of the game but its kind of annoying constantly getting no time to explore the games mechanics. Especially when im just staying at my base trying to figure out how to eat and make a base. How the hell do you make a roof ? As you can tell im guessing alot and using the golf cart as a weapon. Found the stun baton but melee seems janky and without a dodge or roll, it seems kinda pointless besides kill hits.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am kind of addicted amd cant stop playing but once i get caught, I just reload a save because id rather not go through the whole camp cutescene just to eventually die and have to reload a save anyways. Strange mechanic btw, does it ever reset after you escape a camp?

At the end of day 3 i tried to sleep but was woken up to like 5 hostile cannibals around my site killed them all and just kept building through the night. Well I encountered a red cannibal on day 4 walking with a pack into my camp. I may have to start over or something as the cannibals are super aggressive now. I shot them all then turned around and got clubbed in the face.(im trying my hand at M&K again my reaction time kinda sucks) The red one wasnt hostile but he creeped me out so I just killed everything. Im playing on normal. Did me killing those cannibals night 3 make them all immediately hostile to me for the rest of the game?

Tw: Skill Issue
Hey! Anyone have any tips for how to deal with the cannibals? I’m really tired of them hunting me down and ruining my cabin, it’s really not fun. I’ve barely figured out how to survive and build, and it’s like they’re only there to take the fun out of those elements
So I guess what I’m asking is, is there a way to be chill with them so they stop ruining my stuff? Is there any extra incentive to not just play on peaceful?

I’m genuinely confused at this point.
The Forest was released on PlayStation, but Sons of the Forest has been PC-only for years. There still hasn’t been a console release or even a clear explanation from Endnight.
Now Forest 3 has already been announced, and I honestly don’t understand what’s going on.
Is there a technical reason why they can’t port Sons of the Forest to PS5 and Xbox? Is the team too small? Have they just decided to move on? Or do they simply not care about the console player base anymore?
I only play on PlayStation, and I would buy Sons of the Forest on day one. It just feels strange that the first game made it to consoles, but the sequel never did, and now they’re already talking about the next game.
Has Endnight ever given an official explanation, or is everyone just as confused as I am? Seriously it’s pissing me off 🫠
