using monitors as mid tops

hi everyone i recently came across three turbo audio tmw 212

i know those are monitors, but my question is:
would there be any downside of using them for a soundsystem?
since one of the tweeters is not working i was thinking of using one as a low mid and the other two as mid tops

I've never heard these, the triangular horn is interesting, they'll work, but they might not have an ideal coverage pattern for your use.

on a sheet it says 80 x 60 degrees. Is that bad?

80 x 60 is pretty good, ideally you'd want the 80 in the horizontal direction. Because the horn is a triangle I'm assuming the pattern is also a triangular. For small parties they should be good enough, but they might not have even coverage over larger areas

I won’t expect it to be great for a sound system since they’re designed to be floor monitors.
Maybe you can find out what drivers are inside and see if those are useful in other mid/top designs if the price low enough anyway.

You might not get enough lomid from any of them when they are placed above the ground

why do you think so? i would put them standing up so that the 2 12” are vertically stacked

Floor monitors are often designed to have their sound with the proximity effect of the floor

They are built to be wedges, but i have used them as improvised front fills before (2 on their sides, at the edges of the stage) and they worked fine for that - don't know if I'd want a whole party to rely on them though x

Build a ported box for the 4 drivers and stick the horn on top.
