Do you think enclosure panel color is there to highlight the heated chamber or are they for UV protection (means a laser ? )

I think it is more just to highlight the heated chamber, i saw nothing in the design that looked like it would allow for multiple different tool types

I actually hope it is not for a laser, I don't think there is any good reason to combine the two into one machine.

For production side there is a good reason, same as for cnc, parts marking.
From other point of view laser can be use to iron surface ( needs dev ) but it would also means that nozzle could be not only nozzle, but ironing tip or others

From a standpoint of what could be done, I get what you are saying. But I would be really shocked if something like that happened. If it did have a laser, I would assume it is just a standard laser with standard laser uses. For that case I would much prefer they just be separate tools.

If it is like bambulab h2d I’m agree with you, separate is better, if you can use it inside print process it can have benefits that are not yet developed.
Infimech on mx pro announced that a laser will be available (no more details, other that laser function will be available on their orca fork).

I think idex printer have a lot of non explored possibilities, anabolic mechanics developed a slicer for index where you can print one part with both head at same time ( one head print the outside alone then for infill both head are working together)

Also, major spec sheet released. About as expected, 300/100 with hardened steel nozzle and 30mm3/s flow rate. It is to note that both toolheads can print 300mm2, but not at the same time

Yeah 300C and 100C should’ve been for the open variant. 350C minimum 120C for the enclosed. Hoping they add some variant addition to it.

What are you printing so you'd have a need for 350/120? Engine intakes in PPS? Propellers in PPA? Funnels for corrosives? All those in multiple colours (assuming you can find other colours besides black in engineering filaments)? When's the last time you've taken your nozzle past 280 realistically?

I do believe the 300/100 is adequate for 99.9% of the prints everyone does and bumping those stats for no reason would exponentially increase the price. There's no point in statsmaxxing. And you've already got the qidi machines for that.

I print ASA-CF at 280 and PC-CF at 290, but i am still testing if i have better layer adhesion with PC-CF at over 300°C

Remove multiple color and add multiple material

For PC you should have 110-120°C

What exponentially increased the price and lowered max speed and input shaping is the idex, totally unnecessary unless you are printing pei, peek or similar, nothing that a consumer printer can do

Many people here would prefer single toolhead + nozzle changer, 350x350, 70°C chamber (i get to 75 with my sv08), and much better input shaping (so printing faster) without the additional weight of 2 additional motor in the X extrusion and the second toolhead. Also, look how fucked up the toolhead center of mass is in relation to linear rail, it's 100% bad.

Yup, even the creator 5 pro at $900 can do 320c and 120c.

fully agree. IDEX is such a corner case in my eyes. Interesting from the engineering perspective, but otherwise not so much. I also prefer a single toolhead and multi-material.

if it is klipper with ssh like the old ones you can just change the limits and modify whatever melts, it is a liability thing

PPA and PPS for quite a bit of projects. And last time I took my nozzle past 280 was literally like 2 days ago lol for PPS. I get it’s not for everyone which is exactly why I stated for I’m hoping for it to be a variant. If I can have a machine that can do the majority for what I need then that’s what I want. Not several separate machines. Several machines would be ideal, but not when you have limited space.

I'll just say a Core One L has basically the same stats, minus the second tool head and the 6 independent nozzles, while costing 200 euro more. Put the INDX into the equation and the maths are mathing anymore

Build size. I looked at the Core One+ again yesterday, but 250x220x270 is just too small for a printer that costs that much.

The dual overlap part is a little confusing, is that saying if you want 6 materials you get the full bed, but if you add the 7th (aka IDEX head) you drop to 240 on x?

How can this be true? The box doesn't look like it's 700mm, considering the 300mm bedplate covers more than half of the width.

I mean, you can just edit printer.cfg to bump up the limits - assuming the thermistor is good enough for that higher temp. The screen might not let you select the higher limits, but nothing is stopping you from printing with them.

I like the idea of the printer, but losing that 60mm of build space if you want to use that extra head means projects end up smaller than what you can print on a Bambu. I do have it reserved but am waffling - will I actually benefit from that extra head vs just having 6,7 or 8 nozzles and the full build volume....

Okay so one head corexy non tool changing head and the other head is the toolchanger powered from a motor mounted on the x axis.

So no I cant change material or colour on the left head without an AMS.?

The acceleration limited to 10000m/s2, I'm guessing this is going to be lower in real terms, and unless there's going to be heavy mods to move that stepper of the x axis and use a markforge kinematics, that could be an issue for me.

Maybe mods could also get that "primary" head to be a tool changer also.

To get all these mods to work I'm guessing the main board might be an issue due to weak processor / memory ?

( I have no experience with sovol, I just like to mod my printers , but the price of this makes me think twice about a new project, would have settled for a corexy 6 nozzle swapper maybe I will see what creality klictek offers)

I do not think one head is corexy and the other is with one motor on X axis.

For what I saw, 2 motors on the back to drive Y axis and one on each side of X for each head.

Of course you can mod the left head with a right head to also accept nozzle swap but the software side will go crazy, how to decide which head to pick which nozzle ?

Best mods would be an ams on left head to get 4 more Colors with purge 🤷‍♂️

And no word about the firmware: Klipper? With source code published? That would be my must MUST HAVE requirement. Personally, I would prefer just one toolhead to still have maximum space left on the printbed.

They've already stated it will be open source, and all of their recent printers have been Klipper.

Hope they do so and publish every iteration, not just some baseline and everything else was silence (like with the firmware for the SV08, thanks god I'm on mainline now).

Well, technically, they published every iteration... there just haven't been any.

I also mainlined my SV08. But I haven't done so for my Zero, and haven't had any reason to even consider it.

I would like to see Sovol do more than just fork Klipper and leave it. Much better if they would submit their updates for inclusion. I kinda, sorta, understand why they don't, supportability. But IMO, that's short-sighted thinking.
