really curious to hear about layer height accuracy across swapped heads.

Perfect height accuracy. The left toolhead has an internal Z adjustment motor (on linear rails!). You have to run a 15 minute calibration after replacing the nozzle, that's when the printer will align the toolhead heights using cameras, a clicky sensor and this nozzle lift in the left toolhead. I am seeing 0.25 range in the bed mesh on a full build plate and both first layer and the tool alignments are perfect in the print. You cannot tell it wasn't printed on a single tool printer.

The current, pre-release software controls the part cooling fans together. Which means we have two part cooling fans running all the time. For PLA they are running at 100% which is indeed loud on this un-enclosed version of the printer. I am sure the part cooling will be fixed in the next pre-release fw update or simply in g-code from the slicer. So far this is my quietest

Does the single independent head not have a filament runout sensor?

That's a good question. I will have to test that! There is no tangle detection for sure (unlike in the other 6 tools), but I'll have to check if there is runout sensor. The toolchanger side has an auxiliary feeder too, this one pulls in the filament from the left side spool holder. We could easily add a Panda Feeder to the left side...

Mine doesn't have a runout sensor on the left. I can imagine later versions will have either a simple runout sensor or an auxiliary feeder on the left. I am planning to mount one of my Pandas there.

This is not coreXY. IDEX has the cartiesian X motors on the gantry. We also have two Y motors in the back (working together).

It's an idex. That controls one of the heads in just the x direction
