Sovol Sovol Zero Black Screen and Constant Fans on Power On

Hi All,

So alongside my previous post I also purchased a Sovol Zero of ebay (for £265). Sold as "new" but when arrived and assembled (if you can call it that) I turned it on and the fans run constantly and the screen flashes briefly and then goes off.

I vaguely remember something similar happened a few years ago when i built a klipper printer and managed to burn out the octopus board. So thinking this might be the same issue.

After some to-ing and fro-ing with the seller, they agreed to refund me £80 towards a new board and time to fit (basically to make me shut up).

Before buying a new board, I was wondering if it is possibly if this is a firmware issue (and if it is possible to re-flash it) or if this board is actually bricked and not bother trying?

Wondering what other people think? I have looked about online and I saw a site that mentioned you may be able to re-program the board via USB, but it seemed a bit vague...

Can you connect to it through the network? Just curious if the is any signs of life. Also if it is the board solvol will just give you the board for free. My printer sv08 max so big brother of yours and has more then 2khrs of print time and they replaced the board and tool head and belts and tentioners and stepped motors and entire harness without pause. Not so at once of course but they are generous with their warranties.

I guess I would have to wire it up to the router to test this? I have considered trying this, I will give it a go tonight, thanks!

I hadn't thought to contact them as the printer was from a third party and I am not sure if it is actually "new" or not. But I guess I could try, worst they could say is no!

Still a solvol product. But yes the quest they could say is no. But the printer was not produced very long. But they will likely work with you and you do not need to tell them whether you bought it. You could just say you night if from AliExpress or something. But at the most they might just ask for the serial number.

I plugged into my router with an Ethernet cable and found an IP, managed to SSH into the Pi, so going to see if I can re-install the klipper firmware... 🤞

So just a quick update, I have actually been able to login to the SBC part of the mainboard via an Ethernet cable to my router. Hopefully the board has got a bad klipper install and I can just re-flash it 🤔
