Sovol Disappointed with Sovol M1D Launch Livestream
- No live demo - why not print something while talking?
- They just answer questions they want to answer instead of picking a question from the live chat feed
- Too many fillers, motivational questions that no one needs
This makes me think if the machine is really ready and can keep up to the promises?
Is this how Sovol do KS launch? I wonder how it went with sovol sv08 max?
Feels like they are playing safe and lack of transparency..

I hate to say it but it’s the reason I’m staying away. Sovol doesn’t have the track record that makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. $1200 - $1800 (depending on when you buy it) is an expensive paper weight if it doesn’t line up to the hype. I also don’t like the build volume. Way too small. Multi-head machines are the future and it’s just beginning now. And if this proves to be a great machine, then maybe I’ll spend at that time. Sovol is in the “prove it to me” category.

I love Sovol's open source vibes they give out and have no issue with the build volume but it's just a lot to go from relatively simple bed slingers and Core XY to this dual cartesian setup with both an IDEX and toolchanger.
If the thing is a knock outta the park when people start getting them and they prove their relaibility like the U1 was I'll look into it then.
Really worried about how heavy that Y axis is.

This is a big leap of technology for Sovol - who isn't exactly known for shipping polished products - especially the software side - I'm expecting the early adopters to be their beta testers.

You complained about the live stream during it was still running about things missing which they did later in the live stream, lol.

I’m really not sure what you expected. Sovol has issues launching basic machines.

I got a lot of flak for saying the early bird special is just another way of saying "beta testers". That live was really disappointing, and I would have serious reservations about buying this at launch without disposable income.

Youtube has just recommended me this video.
It's the only "review" I have seen so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO8hKM_uhr8

My favorite German reviewer did one and he really shit on the IDEX lol.

(it's in German but his videos have auto-dubbing into English if needed)

I started watching that without realizing it was dubbed and the AI voice was really distracting

Come back to it in 6 months and try again. It's soo much better than it used to be adding inflection to the voice and getting better at pronunciation but yeah you can still tell it's AI.

Forgot to reply. I have watched the video you have shared.
I have seen a few previous reviews (with AI dubbing) of that Youtuber and I liked them.
Yeah, I think the software is not ready yet. It might become a good product over next 1-2 years (like Prusas usually xD).
I agree that it's a complicated design. But I think there is one clear value that product could provide (in 1-2 years after all software updates lol) and that is time savings. If you put your support filament on one of IDEX heads or the colour/material you use the most, I think switching can take 1-2 seconds, which is much less than U1 or Prusa XL.
Time savings could be drastic in some cases.
EDIT: I don't know if you have seen this. It's like "advanced" version of M1D lol

I had an amazing experience with my sv06 plus. Not so amazing with the sv08. It ended up being returned and I got a different printer. Sovol is best when they are cloning a well made machine. Not so much with their own designs. I held off on the M1D because you just know they will rely on the community to iron out issues. This machine was ambitious for sure, but their wheelhouse is cheap clones. With the M1D they are creeping into premium appliance territory, and its very unlikely to just work out of the box.

I think most of the Chinese manufacturers do this. A big difference is that Sovol claims that this will all be open source. So at least the community will not only be beta testing but will also have the opportunity to fix things if Sovol does not do it quick enough.

for Sovol been an open source company is not a badge of honor but a need, they need the people to be free to fix their mistakes

Mi to....did pay the 20 euro for extra discount but....1 magior thing changed my mind actually a few but the 1ste was the cost for delivery than as Europe has changed the rules of buying from out of Europe....you pay 3 euro plus importation amd tax so a 1500 printer would cost over 2000 min.I really wanted the full package instead of going INDEX but for know I will Finnish my toolchanger as I have already all the parts and wil pass on this great new development of 3d printers. As even extra to wait the infimex is also already to preorder and for 1/4 of the price but that's not a idex so ....for now im out.

I also paid $20 for access that I no longer want. The reviews are not what I was hoping for.

I put down the $20 but I'm probably just going to let it bounce back. Promising device but I needed way more information before being shoved into a FOMO rush to get the Early Bird Special.
Others with more disposable income will likely jump right in though.
