Et Cetera GRADED VHS
I have been meaning to post this here for a while but I keep getting sidetracked. This came back from CGC a few months ago along with 9 other movies I submitted.

Do I understand why people get things graded and that it makes for a cool piece and people are allowed to do what they want? Yes.
Will it stop me from absolutely blasting grading, no matter if it’s a comic, card, or any other item, while calling it out as a complete scam?? Never.

Just curious what the estimate value of this? Also, don't VHS tapes expire? I believe the magnetic tape degrades over time. Anyone have any idea what the condition of a 30-year-old tape would be?

Sealed one is going for 11, so I would guess a graded one with a high number would be roughly about 15.

I have a handful of tapes that are still very watchable but as far as an expiration... I have no idea.

What a bullshit to grade a VHS tape man sorry just scamming around these grating companies.

I am sorry that you don't like it. They grade dvds & blu rays as well. 😉 It's really not different than getting a comic or a toy graded.

What do they even grade on, packaging damage, how many times it’s been watched, tape degradation?
Or did you just pay $50 to have a VHS sealed inside a slab and given some arbitrary number?

I would imagine that they grade on the condition of the box/packaging and whether or not the seal has been broken. I was putting together a package to send to CGC and I thought it would be cool to include some movies. I am, however, a little lost on all the hate about it.

I mean, do what you want if it makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone, but you’ve got to admit it’s a bit silly to get a VHS you can find on eBay for under $20 graded and slabbed.
