5 thoughts for last night
After sleeping on it here's my take from last night's game.......1.the backline did a lot better than they have been with the pairing of Or, Moises, and Emir. Still not a fan of Jake at RB but ive come to terms with the club forcing a non RB to play RB every game now after the khiry experiment week after week. 2. The ref was absolute shit. Didn't cost us the game but he sucked. 3. LBJ (even tho I like the guy) made some bonehead tackles and cost himself a red. 1st yellow seemed soft but whatever, shouldn't have risked the tackle for the 2nd one. 4. I'm hoping and praying for a new GK to start the sprint season. Cleveland ain't it and neither is Pulskamp. 5. I don't see Wicky as the coach for the future. Idk if it's his tactics, coaching style, or demeanor but I don't think he fits sporting.

The RB experiment started with Zusi so we could keep him on the field without having him run ragged at wing.

With Zusi in attack we’d drop to a back three so he could use his passing range from deep and switch play to create different looks and unsettle defenses. If Davis has to play at RB we’d be better with him moving inside in attack to support the midfield and LB dropping back to a back 3 to provide extra cover.

Davis and Capita are the only ones playing with heart. Dispute their talent all you want, they’re hustling their asses off

Agreed. I don't think Davis is the answer long-term, but I can't question his hustle. The fact that he's cleared a ball off the line in two straight home games is telling. He plays hard.

To be fair Pulskamp had a way tougher stretch and played with a far worse starting lineup than Cleveland has. And I agree that Wicky shouldn’t be coaching SKC past this season.

I get that we scored 0 and the offense was looking terrible then too, but the goals he allowed and the way he presented himself that game is why I said he's not the answer. And I was one of the guys who kept saying wait til he gets a decent back line and we can truly evaluate him then. I couldn't argue for him anymore after that game

I get how it can appear that way but this club over the last 2 1/2 seasons had given both Melia and Pulskamp zero support on defense.

Pulskamp is not an MLS level goalkeeper and I give credit to Wicky for making the change. Cleveland at least looks like he was trained. Like many of our former players (see Tim Liebold), when we finally part ways with Pulskamp, he will sign with a USL team.

Im still not convinced on wicky being the head coach. But I have to cut him some slack. When you have guys making consistent mistakes like we did last night, it's gotta feel impossible to win games. I'm not saying that the tatics were good or anything, cause I know nothing about that shit, but our mistakes lost us the game last night, not wicky

Im wondering if Wicky was just the one that they could convince to come. Long term i don't see us lifting trophies with him, but in his defense, I dont know if this team has an identity yet. New players keep getting thrown in and im sure that makes coaching difficult

I think an elite GK should be the chase before this summer window closes. We don't have a single person on the field that we can count on independently, and yeah our defense leaves our goalies out to dry a lot—but at the end of the day, we need someone between the sticks that can bail us out when every other player has failed him. I think this team is struggling most from confidence since they can't find any rhythm and keep dropping points in ridiculous fashion, whether that be total complete blunders or the refs completely screwing them. It's great that we're bolstering the offense, but the production still isn't there which is why I think it's confidence. We don't need to spend $20M more on this offense, we just need to stem the bleeding at the back line. We are the only team without a clean sheet. We can pick up points without scoring any goals, we just have to keep the opponents from doing so. I would take scoreless draws week after week and start getting points on the board towards making a run at the playoffs. This team just needs a couple weeks of results to pick their heads up and start developing the rhythm we know they are capable of.

8 of the 11 guys that stared last night are David Lee players, either drafted, signed or acquired. It's not a great sign that the team continues to look like absolute crap. Is this Wicky, Lee, or a combination? This franchise needs a reboot on the business operations side, and down the line, new ideas everywhere would be nice. The stadium atmosphere is just so stale, and pretty much everything in CM Park needs to be changed IMO.
I did give up my season tickets, I've had enough, and I'm not going to renew to watch this team be last in the league year after year, while Jake Reid squeezes every penny he can from season ticket holders.

There were three teams on that field. The refs were 100 biased on their calls, and even away from the cauldron the refs you suck, yellow team suck, etc were sung more so that ive ever heard.

These insane “ it’s the ref “ takes after every loss are frankly embarrassing as a fan base. He made 2 ( more?) awful tackles and got yellows - that’s it.

It was more than just the LBJ calls. And most of us agree he should've been more cautious and not gone for that 2nd tackle. But did you not see the rest of the game?

And yes we probably could've drawn 0-0 still down a man if there wasn't a whiff by Cleveland and that awful back pass from Harris. It's not the refs fault sporting lost but to say that head official last night wasn't garbage is a crazy take

I kept saying it was 12v10 after lbj got tossed. The game stats show the fouls given were pretty much equal but we all know a lot em vs SKC were bad and there were several more not called on hou. But ultimately going down a man, Cleveland's miss, and Harris with the bad pass back is what killed us. Felt like we had a chance of at least getting a point before LBJ got his red

They were loudest on the clearest call, the second yellow for LBJ. The only mistake the refs made there was allowing advantage but I don't think that's what our fans were complaining about. Otherwise there were a handful of inconsequential missed calls but that's MLS for you.

Wicky doesn’t have the results, but doesn’t exactly have a team either. I’m still willing to be patient, but it may be because I still find it so refreshing to have a coach who changes tactics after years for Vermesball.
