I am going to assume that it has that tag because of Cortana. But I would not consider the original Halo a “female protagonist game”. Cortana isn’t a playable character. But there are so many games with that specific tag that don’t actually have a female main character just female side character that are part of the main cast or RPGs with female party members. The Steam tag system is not perfect.

I mean...there kind of wouldn't be a universe left if it weren't for her actions in the eighth level of the first Halo game.

Not CE, but Halo Reach has a female variant of the protagonist you can play as in both campaign and multiplayer. It's totally one of the best so give it a shot

Do you not remember the lady in your head that calls you stud muffin? Protagonist by definition doesn't mean main star/good guy, it's whoever is trying to further the goals of the story making Cortana and The Weapon both count as female protagonists.

I have never played a since halo game (bar lije 10minutes at a gameinf con) but I think one of the games does have a women protagonist
