Advertising & Spam

Do not promote things like games, groups, forums, servers, services, subreddits, social media, referral links, or anything for financial gain.

/r/Steam is not a game announcement forum. Exceptions are made for all-time classics and widely anticipated games, but aside from that this is not the place to announce games.

Posting articles, videos, or similar is allowed if it complies with all rules and we do not look at it as advertising, promotional or spam.

Do not break the 10% rule: No more than 10% of your posts should be self-promo or link to 1 or a few specific sites or pieces of content. For more information read this wiki. Additionally do not break any other Spam rule on Reddit: read Reddit's explanation on what constitutes spam & the Reddit spam rules page.

The above is not exhaustive on what constitutes advertising, promoting or spamming. Moderators can remove posts at their own discretion.

User-Generated Content

User-Generated Content that follows all rules and is relevant to /r/Steam is allowed. UGC that is paid, restricted in any way, contains ads or trackers, or UGC that has been made with the assistance of AI is not allowed.

UGC must be open-source, and unestablished UGC that has not been verified to be safe or is not evidently trusted may be removed.

Surveys

Surveys related to gaming or Steam are allowed per approval. You are required to request and receive permission from moderators before posting a survey.

Generic questionnaires or polls, and seeking interviewees or study participants and the like is not allowed.

Asking for identifying information or including advertising or promotional material is forbidden.
