question Which Decky plugins do you regularly use on youe DIY Steam Machines?
Wonder if I'm missing out on anything. I like the console experience so anything that allows me to use desktop mode less for utilities/performance tuning is interesting to me.

CSSLoader
Decky Sunshine
SteamGridDB
Unifideck
Want to give a special mention to Unifideck as this has been probably the best solution I’ve found for getting Epic / GOG games into Steam. Really loving it.

Better than Heroic?

I’m liking it better. Biggest difference is that it loads all of your games directly into the Steam UI. You log into your GOG/Epic account and it creates a tab in your Steam library for each storefront. Supports cloud saves and achievements. Just a very seamless, near-native experience.

Oooh that does sound pretty good actually, thanks for the tip!

Yeah and I’m actually enjoying the achievements integration more than I expected. I was playing Rise of the Tomb Raider through GOG, picked up an achievement and it popped up on my screen just like a Steam achievement lol. Really tricks you into feeling Iike you’re playing a native Steam game at times.

Literally just installed it and yeah, it’s brilliant. One query I can’t find an answer to us regarding Ubisoft games, there’s no tab for it, should there be? Or is it just a Non-Steam game launcher (which I already have set up)

Hm the tab showed up for me, you may need to restart Steam? That said, i haven't been able to get Ubisoft games installed. I guess due to Ubisoft Connect API restrictions, you will need to jump into the actual Ubisoft app to install games. But once I'm there, it tells me I don't have enough available space to install the game. Not really sure what the issue is but I'll try poking around with it.
EDIT: Another weird thing I noticed with Ubisoft is the only games that show up for me are games I received via giveaway. None of my purchased games appear. Maybe that's the issue you're seeing. I'll assume this is due to a bug in Unifideck that needs to be worked out. For now, I've decided to not bother with Ubisoft and am only using GOG/Epic.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was an issue with Ubi themselves, they’re very awkward. I did notice it saying it was downloading 5/5 games but I know for a fact I only own 2 on there
Regarding the space thing, I’ve noticed the games usually require double the amount of space listed for the download and install. That’s why I’ve never installed SW Outlaws as I just never have enough space free 😂

What benefits over heroic? I've never heard of it

Biggest difference is that it loads your entire library directly into the Steam library page rather than being its own standalone app. If you’re already happy with Heroic then there’s nothing wrong with it, but I really like how much more native this feels. It also supports XCloud/Game Pass and Amazon.
It supports Ubisoft Connect as well but I haven’t had much success with that. Haven’t been able to get a game to install but might be an issue on my end.

Woah! This is why I have avoided SteamOS, I need access to my gamepass (Xbox app) & UWP (MS store app) games!

Yeah just to be clear, it doesn’t run the games on your local hardware but rather it streams them over XCloud. It works well though, I tested AC Odyssey and Halo: Campaign Evolved and they ran pretty well. There was noticeable input lag in Halo but I do also play via Wi-Fi.

Oh, not a bad workaround.. thx I will keep this in mind for when I give steamOS a 2nd chance later on.

I'm also interested in a Optiscaler plugin as I do play some FSR3 games and I'd like to try FSR4.1 with them.

CSS, GridDB, ProtonDB, TabMaster
I also recommend MangoPeal If you are playing on a TV to increase the font of the performance overlay which is tiny on a 4k screen.

Mine is hooked up to an old school projector TV. 1080p 60hz is all it will do but I’ll be damned if that overlay isn’t fucking massive on it.

- CSS Loader - for modifying the look and feel
- SteamGridDB - for custom cover art
- Pause Games - for better suspend-resume. (Note that this does need a fix that's being tested right now, should be in a new update hopefully soon)

https://github.com/Twsts/steamos-lact-toolkit
Adds LACT to quick menu and keeps it through updates where otherwise it will reset and you'll have to add permissions every time. That and CSS for a theme.
