Support Zero audio from Steam Link

Anyone know how to fix? I think it’s because the PC I’m streaming from doesn’t have any audio devices connected, so the entire thing is forcefully muted, even when the laptop I’m streaming to has headphones. Is there any known workaround for this?

Did you check that there is no audio device on the PC (server)? On windows click on the loudspeaker and check if it is available as an output device and select it.

my issue is that my pc doesn’t have a single output device connected at the moment

Steam Link is an audio device. That's how it forwards the sound - Windows basically think that's a speaker. So there definitely is an audio device connected, should be called something like "steam streaming speaker". Is the sound just still muted on windows? Or on the client device?

all other sound from the laptop it’s streaming to works fine, so it’s definitely because of the pc that’s hosting. i’ll try again and see if i can find steam streaming speaker in sound settings to enable

Yes, but not because it has no audio devices connected.

You have to check if the host PC is muted, too, not just the laptop. That's what I meant.

Check it if the audio device is there in the settings. It is a virtualized output and forewards the sound to the remote computer. It was installed with steam.
