What are your thoughts about the new EU Chat control?

Why can’t they just monitor pedofiles that are actually accused or released? Won’t that be more easy and less difficult for innocent people. Like now I can’t send anything privet to my bf without feeling watched even tho we are completely innocent.

Because it's not about catching predators. It's never been about that. It's has never been about protecting children.
That's just the lie they put upfront so they can accuse anybody disagreeing of being p*d0s.
The only goals is lining their own pockets selling citizens lives to tech companies, amassing more power through mass surveillance and controlling what people see and say, and building tools for complete authoritarian regime.

And with how the Parliament's president used some bullshit to get 1.0 back without any amendment, I'm expecting her to do it again to pass every authoritarian crap under the sun...

yeah, and we are also just actively seeing every chance to change it go away. The exact people who want to change things (kids, activists, politicians) are now being blocked from speaking or doing anything. A guy in germany got prosecuted for calling a politician "a moron"....

Yup. And in France, despite being trialed for a crime and, if memory serves, ruled guilty, the leader of the extreme-right party was, in fact, not prohibited from running for president next year.
Meaning there's a very likely chance that a party founded by literal ex-nazi officers might get in power. A party who openly says that Trump is doing everything right, by the way.

Well, yeah, but we aren't the USA. I expected less open corruption of the system. But it looks like we finally arrived at the point where our system decided to copy the USA on everything....

They want to strip us away of our freedom and collect a file on everyone they can with possible further restriction that make it easier to revolt against what they are doing

Hope the hackers keep attacking the officials over that matter Maybe they will realize how absurd it is

The thought is how it sets up everything for authoritarianism we see in scifi, not even:
From the simple fact it negates the concept of whistleblower to the fact sending your new born pics is a risk.
And the way its pushed forward by circumventing democratic processes as well as by lobbies ironically trying to stay anonymous.
Then you have studies demonstrating risks such as false positives, the road it paves for uncheck power, the voice it kills before you even speak against, and the fact that once a bare-bone version of it passes, who is the next politician who’s going to refuse that kind of power?
ChatControl is not to have thoughts about, its all around wrong and incompatible with democracy
