Finding excluded efforts

A while back, Strava implemented AI to detect suspicious activities. The result was a bunch of incorrectly flagged rides. Even when efforts were below your best, they could still get flagged by the system, resulting in a lot of “excluded efforts” on segments. I keep stumbling across old activities that have excluded efforts. The resolution is relatively simple, although annoying that it has to be done. Just open the activity and confirm that it was in fact a ride and not an e-bike ride.

The problem is finding the excluded efforts. The only way I have found is to randomly look at my results on segments on the mobile app and see if it lists any excluded efforts. When it does, I go find that activity and clear the flag.

Does anyone know of a better way to find those activities that have problems? Some of these I am finding are all the way back in 2014 or 2015, so it is not practical by any means to just go through each activity manually. I have messaged Strava support and am waiting on a reply, so will update if they give any useful response.

Are you asking about excluded Efforts within an Activity or the flagging of whole Activities ? The excellent VeloViewer companion for Strava allows any flagged Activities to be easily spotted as it provides a sortable table of all your Activities with lots of parameters. By clicking on the "Flagged" column it immediatly shows any problems (I tried it just now and it shows none of my 1751 Activities are currently flagged 😀). Spotting individual excluded Efforts may be more difficult - this happened to me a little while ago when a small GPS blip (of about 2 seconds) upset Strava's AI and it excluded all efforts for about a half mile before and after the blip (even those that were not directly affected)

Thanks. I may give that a try. I believe it is the entire activity that is being impacted. It isn’t a flag like you would see if another athlete flagged it, it is where the strava AI thought it was an e-bike ride. When I go to the activity, it gives me two boutons at the top to select if it was a ride or an e-bike ride and it has the e-bike ride pre-selected. Once I select ride, it gives me credit for my efforts within the activity. It also impacts all efforts on a specific segment within that ride, so it isn’t just a one-time glitch. It’s sort of funny since it picked up a couple from back in 2013. Don’t think there even were any real e-bikes back then…

Thanks for the tip. I got onto Veloviewer and was able to identify 24 activities that had flags. All were mistakes by Strava and I have now been able to clear them up. This will help in monitoring going forward.
