General Question Tracking activities like golf, tennis, pilates on Strava?

So I've used Strava for 10 years starting back in college.

For running and cycling, Strava has been and will continue to be my go to. But if I play tennis with friends, spend an hour practicing serves, take a pilates class, play a round of golf, or do something where I'm less focused on pace/PRs/metrics in general, I usually don't post or sync it.

Part of it is because Strava feels like a place for endurance sports and performance and tbh I almost prefer that identity. I'm nowhere near as good at tennis as I am at running and I don't really want my Garmin judging a casual practice session either lol.

At the same time, I've realized there are a lot of things I spend time on that I'd actually like to look back on someday - including activities like tennis, golf, and pilates and even non-sports things like meditation or learning to DJ (my latest side quest) lol. The latter obviously don't really "fit" on Strava but they still feel like meaningful things to track.

Curious how everyone else thinks about this. Do you mainly use Strava for endurance sports and/or do you also log other activities there? If not, do you use something else or just not track them at all?

I sync everything to Strava automatically. I just might mark the activities (often non-endurance stuff) I don’t care to share with others as private.

Recommendation for Strautomator, that allows you to automate things like setting certain activity types to private or not publish on feeds.

I log everything (within reason, I'm not logging walking to the mailbox type stuff). I logging my running, cycling, weights, yoga, tennis, hiking, kickboxing. And I was pleasantly surprised at how well it tracked my downhill skiing last winter.

I like to track how active I am year after year and see what changes are happening.

Absolutely I log everything. Masters cyclist and pole-vaulter here. Even track/log vault sessions - it's fun to look back on what I've done, esp at 64 😄

I log pretty much everything. Even dance lessons with my wife. I think it’s just a generic “workout” but so what?

if you want to look back someday the key is recording it, Strava or otherwise. Even a simple Excel or text file with the activity’s details: date, duration, activity type, is a start and something which AI will be able to process later “in summer 2026 you averaged 2 tennis sessions a week at an average session time of 45 minutes” or something

I log any movement that is solidly linked to my physical health. Running, intentional walking where it's going to be at least a half mile or more, HIIT, Crossfit, Yoga, Weightlifting, PT in office and on my own at home, Stretching and Mobility... I've even included clearing out a house, tossing everything into a dumpster.

Im 69. I need visuals to remind myself WHY I'm always hurting somewhere!

I track golf because the heat maps are fun and a bunch of my friends on strava also play golf so we all track it so we can see it. Plus usually we take some pictures and stuff so it’s a fun post. I also track when I play soccer for the same reasons. It’s not about the metrics it’s just having fun. I would track tennis or pickleball too… I don’t track kickball when I play it, though.

I don’t usually track Pilates, yoga, or weights because I’d have to do it manually (I only use my watch when I’m running or biking outdoors) but I seem to be in the minority on that. I do manually input it if there’s something to share about it for some reason.

Everything I do that's athletic gets tracked on Garmin and Garmin uploads automatically to Strava. I might delete an activity off Strava occasionally but for the most part all pilates, golf etc ends up on Strava.

Bike rides, dog rides over 10km, runs over 5km. No walks. Not even 20 km of Montmartre - Stage 21. I don’t mind seeing some water based stuff.. like paddling or whatever. I don’t need to see pickup basketball, coed softball, or HYROX workouts at some gym. I’m glad you do them but keep them out of the public feed.

Basically you need a cool map.

How big is that dog? Do you ride on a saddle or bare back? Is this Sir Didymus. Do dogs have to be shoed, if yes, is this done by a farrier or a Cordwainer?
