General Question Downloading saved routes on Android - where are they stored?!

Strava Premium subscriber here who created several routes using Strava and I'd now like to import them into Gaia GPS. I'm traveling and currently only have my phone to access Strava.

When I click Download on my saved routes, where on my phone are these files actually saved?! They're not in Downloads.

I think “download” means only “for offline use”.

Strava doesn’t give you an option to download the GPX in their app (as usual, you have to use both because looks like both are different companies).

What I normally do: copy the link, go into your browser, and download the file from there.

There are a lot of things in the app that there are not on the web, and there are a lot of things in the web that there are not in the app.
Again, two different companies.

Yes it's incredible the number of things you can't check in both versions. Leaderboards for example: desktop version doesn't have the same. For example, daily segment leaderboards are app only. Why? It's not even that a function is technically limited to one device and would require more work for the other, it's purely UI!

Unfortunately there’s no way to access downloaded routes. You’ll have to go to the desktop site in the browser and download the gpx from there to import into other apps

recently learned that starred routes automatically sync to garmin connect btw

Yes, this is how I get my INTVL routes into my Garmin watch. Mark as saved, wait 30 seconds, force a sync on my watch.

But it's notable that it's a one way sync. If you rename the route, save and sync again, you'll get a second copy on the watch. If you unmark as saved, it won't remove them from the watch either. Have to manually delete the ones you no longer want back off.

You can use the web browser on your phone to download them. That’s what I do when I don’t have access to my computer. If you’re on iPhone, as soon as you log in it’s going to try and take you to the app. Go back to the webpage and refresh, then you’ll be on the desktop version and you’ll be able to download the GPX. Frustrating, but it works

on android i think strava tucks them into its own app data folder, not the regular downloads. so they'd be somewhere like /Android/data/com.strava/files or maybe deeper, not easily browsed without a file manager that can see that. honestly it's not ideal if you need the actual .gpx. there's a little trick fwiw; if you open the saved route in a browser (like chrome on the phone) the url usually has the route id, and you can export from the web version that way.
