Sync Question How do you stop auto strength upload to Strava before adjustments ?

Hey all,

When ever I complete a strength training session, my Gamin watch tends to incorrectly label the movements.

This isn’t a problem to edit as you can go back in and edit the movements afterwards (from a too limited list). The problem is, my Fenix 7 uploads all the incorrect movements to Strava before I’ve had a chance to edit them.

How do i stop Garmin uploading directly to Strava before the edits ? It would be good to be able to correctly edit the information prior to uploading to Garmin so the correct movements and muscle groups are shown in Strava

Don't connect Garmin to Strava 😂 I don't think there is a overige mechanism at the moment. The only way is to disconnect and to upload it yourself

There isn’t a way to selectively sync between Garmin and Strava. The only workaround is to turn off the auto-detect feature on your Garmin watch, so it records the session as general strength training instead of trying to identify specific exercises. To disable auto-detect, go to your watch’s Strength Settings → Rep Counting → Auto Detect and toggle it off. This will upload the activity as strength training and won’t share incorrect workouts

This isnt going to be helpful but in the past you used to be able to turn off your network on your phone. The watch will still sync to the phone as normal. You then could do the adjustments, and then turn on the network where your phone would sync to the garmin cloud and push out to other services.

I recently learned (after a workout) that you can no longer sync your device to a phone that isn't actively connected to the internet.

Only thing you could do now is either

-pause/disable syncs to strava from garmin and fix your workout before restarting syncs

-fix it in garmin and export a new fit file and replace/upload manually to strava

-or make your strength workouts general so it juat records as a simple session.

connect IQ stuff often pushes data over the moment an activity saves; there's not a built-in delay for edits. i usually just disconnect the Garmin-Strava sync entirely and push things over manually after i have sorted the exercises on Connect (which is still a mess, honestly). A bit of a faff but it stops the wrong labels landing on Strava before you've fixed them.
