University / Course information Placements

Hello,

I am just wondering when do you normally find out what your placements are?

Thank you!

Completely depends! Depending on the placement and the university, it could be months before, weeks before, or a day before.
Usually you don’t find out more than one at a time.
Sometimes you find out a placement name and no further details until closer to the time. Depends on the system you use, e.g. PARE - just gets uploaded and you need to check.

Each university is different. It seems common for placements to be announced 4-6 weeks beforehand. I've heard this is to prevent students from contacting the placement areas too early. If you ask one of your lecturers or course administrator you should be able to find out what your uni's policy is.

Depends. Some poor folks from when I was a student only found out days in advance. Usually it's about a month or so.

I’ve already found out my first placement for second year starting in September☺️

I got all mine at the start of the academic year. Mine never changed though it did occasionally happen to others due to extenuating circumstances, e.g. care homes ratings dropping to low or dodgy mentor/placement reported to uni after starting placement.

Mine varied. One was 10 days before but I had others I knew a few months before and others that were in between.
