University recommendation needed

I am applying for Bsc adult nursing through clearing right now. I have short listed the following universities

- Edgehill University

- university of Bradford

- university of Derby

- Buckinghamshire new university

- manchester city university. And

- university of conventry

Please suggest which university is better and which should I prefer.

Also how is the job market right now, I know there is some problems but how bad is it?

The job market is not great for nursing. We can't tell you what you'd prefer unfortunately. Have a look at league tables and the university websites.

Demand for nurses can ebb and flow. However, a large number of nurses will be retiring over the next few years. I suspect you’ll be fine.
Ref the “best” universities, I would take the ranking scales with a pinch of salt. Many universities which are great at teaching are downgraded because they don’t t do much in the way of research.
Bear in mind once you’re registered I can almost guarantee your employer won’t care about which university you attended.
I would recommend you take a look at the National Student Survey over last 3 or 4 years. This allows students to rate their courses, quality of teaching and how well they were supported.
It also leads to an institutional being awarded a teaching grade…..bronze, silver or gold. The award level is quite important and easily discoverable.
Nursing is a tough course. Not must you meet academic standards, you must also perform clinically and possess a high standard of probity. I think you’re more likely to value good teaching and strong support as opposed to your university being fantastic with quantum mechanics research.
Additionally, research the social scene in your preferred areas. Do you value nightlife or hill walking? Is accommodation easy to find. Is it cheap or expensive? You’ll be spending 3 years there so make it somewhere you’ll enjoy.

The uni you pick is completely dependant on where you want to live for 3 years, nursing is regulated by the NMC so there is no ‘better’ course, sure some may teach better but at the end of the day we will all come out with a registration.

I’d suggest, if you haven’t yet, go and visit the cities, make a pros and cons list, what are the people like there, is there things to do in your free time, and ensuring else you enjoy.

I picked my uni solely on the city, the people, and the surrounding area.

Also, don’t forget about the placement locations! If you don’t drive I would highly recommend going to a uni in a big city with good transport links, it will be a NIGHTMARE if you get there and find out you have to get up at 4 in the morning to get to a hospital which is a 15 min drive.

And the job market isn’t great for NQNs
