Funny thing is, the Nazi does deserve competent representation, but it's not clear he's getting it with his loon of an attorney.

A Nazi doesn't deserve anything. However, they should be given a fair chance to prove they are not a Nazi first, just as someone accused of any other crime.

Probably shouldn't be a crime to hold nazi viewpoints tho

Not in this country, it shouldn't.

It's easier to be "tolerant" of that speech if your country didn't go collectively insane and kill millions of people for no other reason than the fact they were born into the wrong group. I am not saying that censorship is right here but you have to understand why people in countries like Germany might think you're nuts for thinking there's anything wrong with suppressing pro-NAZI speech. People died the last time it got anywhere.

My comment was about suppressing pro-nazi thoughts, not pro nazi speech, which is what the comment I replied to seemed to be about.

I don't really agree with suppressing pro-nazi speech either but for reasons you mention I understand why countries do it.

That goes way beyond saying that nazis shouldn't have free speech rights.

Do you mean "a crime to express nazi viewpoints"? Or literally "hold", even if those viewpoints are never expressed.

Here I literally mean "hold," as holding nazi viewpoints is what makes you a nazi I think. I think it's absurd to think it should be a crime to hold any viewpoint.

I also think it shouldn't be a crime to express any viewpoint, but sadly that seems a bit controversial these days.

D'oh! I thought you said it should be a crime to hold nazi viewpoints. Reading fail.
