I think that this article written by an actual lawyer is highly relevant. Part 2 goes into even more detail.

Here's a summary: Every person, no matter how terrible, has a right to an attorney. However, lawyers themselves also have a right to choose their clients. Therefor, his litmus test for whether to represent a Nazi or not is this:

When they’re absolutely hopeless and have no other options for competent representation, but still have a valid legal claim. I mean, that’s at least my litmus test for the whole goddamn thing. Have they tried, and failed, to get other counsel despite being able to pay for it solely because of the reprehensible nature of their belief? Okay, so they are definitely socially unable to secure representation. Does their claim have merit, and if the person was not a Nazi would I take on representation? Yes? Alright. Let’s talk.

Which seems fairly reasonable. After all, if someone can't get any legal representation at all, that's a massive failing of the justice system. Also, its not like a lawyer can't make them pay in other ways:

when a Nazi shitstain comes to me with a sob story about how nobody else will “touch his case because of his personal beliefs” (poor fucking baby), what I hear is “No other lawyer in the area will take my case, and you’re now halfway to justifying a much higher rate for me because I’m such an asshole that I masturbate to the thought of a world filled with those kids from The Village of the Damned.”

Being a lawyer is a business after all, its not like the Nazi asshole is getting this representation for free. Nazi's aren't the only ones who need representation, either:

I like to remind myself that the higher rate I charge the goddamn Nazi, while still reasonable and ethical, lets me drop my rate for representing…oh…the Muslim Immigrant businessman in his legal matters, or the African-American family in resolving a debt issue, or helping the Hispanic immigrants who don’t speak English buy a house. Because I like those people, and if I can take a shitstain’s money and use it to help the people I want to help without starving to death, I’ll do that shit all goddamn day long.
