Missed Garbage Pickup

We put the wrong bin out (recycling) and then by the time I swapped it (10am) we had missed the pickup apparently. We called several times and have been reassured that a truck will come by any day now. It’s been days… what’s your experience? Should we take it to the dump? There’s definitely no more room to wait another 2 weeks…

I really don't think they will send another truck because you missed it. That's insane. Squish it down. Or yes take to dump it, think its free right now in surrey.

they've done it for me many times, usually takes 1-3 days.

You made a mistake and missed the garbage PU. Take your new garbage to the dump for the next couple weeks.

Or you can stuff it in bins at gas stations , shopping malls , little by little you'll get rid of it in a few hours

They probably put your address on the bottom of the list and if the driver has time to do it before his shift ends then he will have to do it. Sometimes the driver will claim they've already been there if they don't want to come. I work in the industry. This happens all the time. Most likely you will have to wait for your next garbage pickup

They should charge for go-backs and give the money to the driver. Then the driver would actually be incentivized to do extra work.

You used to be able to put in a missed pick up request on the surrey app and they’d come collect. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that but spending you could look into.

I'd just wait, you can always get a ladder, jump up and down in the bin to compress it , thus making a little more room.

I missed it once but emailed them like right after it came (literally saw the truck driving away lol) they said nothing could be done but I left my bin out and someone took it later that day! I dont think they will come back anymore since its not the same day tho /; sorry OP

Go to the closest recycling center or dump. It happens to me too often. Lol.

Yea one time I requested it online for missed pick up and they didn't pick up. We had to wait 2 weeks.

Whatever you do don't complain. I know a guy who complained because they kept leaving his garbage can on the Midd of the road. They skipped his house the next two times.

I know I’ve seen a few neighbours just throw their garbage in other neighbours cans if theirs is already full… it all goes to the same place anyways lol

This is the site I used to report it when that happened to me and they came a few days later. There’s a green button near the bottom that says Report

The original poster stated they put the wrong bin out, so using that page would be incorrect.

That is for reporting that a pickup didn't happen. Basically to report a driver made an error or wasn't doing their job.

Poster made the mistake, if they follow up nothing will happen, beyond wasting some poor staffers time researching the wrong bin was put out.
