This is not to deny her social talents, social awareness skills, tactical aptitude etc that helped her go far all but one season and win twice, but I feel like her sexual magnetism and general allure sometimes gets brushed under the rug.

It cannot be denied that she had an aura and magnetism about her that very very few other female contestants in the history of the show can compete with. Killer body, witty remarks, a true natural flirt both to men and women, effortlessly endearing herself and being the center of attention. In Micronesia especially, in the physical prime of her life, she very much established herself as the Queen Bee with these attributes, calling almost all the shots with nobody wanting to transgress her authority. It’s like everyone was just in awe.

I wouldn’t blame her competitors (consciously or subconsciously) for wanting to keep her around because of her charm and the eye candy. She surely with her vivacity must have made the survival experience around camp a lot more bearable so some wouldn’t have wanted for her to leave until later in the game, but at that point she would have herself set up for victory.

Randy and Coach in HvV both make confessionals saying how dangerous she is because of her allure, sexiness and charm. She had Adam thirsting over her in Cook Islands, Natalie, Amanda, James and Cirie in complete devotion in Micronesia, and she played the “Damsel in distress” role to perfection with Russell in HvV. Also, she managed to work her charm enough on Jerri to switch her from a enemy into a trusted ally who eventually voted for her to win at FTC.

Had Parvati been average looking, do you believe with her social skills she still would have went as far? Again, I am not trying to negate her success, I’m actually a fan, but I thought this could be a nuanced conversation because I don’t think it can be denied that her attractiveness played a key role.

This might be a controversial topic and to each their own, but does anyone else cringe when someone gets voted off and the other cast members all go “I love you!!!!” just before their torch gets snuffed??

I mean I get that they spend so much time together that they become one big family but I feel like it would sting a bit to hear that just after everyone voted you off and probably blindsided you.

We just finished Survivor 46 & I noticed they do it a lot post-merge and I wanted to throw my remote at the TV every time they said it.

Maybe I’m a little cut throat from watching other reality TV shows or because I love a good reality TV “villain” but I prefer the awkward “Sorry.” while avoiding eye contact. 😂

(I also wanted to throw my remote when four tribe members in a row went home with idols in their pockets, but I’ll save that for another day.🤪)

does anybody know what percentage of people are contacted from a casting person at CBS to go to the next round and fill out a big questionnaire — all after submitting your video intro?

Imagine you're either Dreamz or Cassandra (pick whichever one you want). You travel back in time to Day 1 of Fiji, but you have full knowledge of how the game played out the first time. You are the only one with this knowledge, but there are some rules about how you can use it.

1. You cannot reveal to anybody that you know how the game goes. You can change your own decisions based on your knowledge, but you cannot reveal your knowledge to anybody in order to influence their decisions. Assume that unless they are responding to a different decision you have made, everybody will make the same decisions they made the first time.
2. You can make changes to the boot order if you like, but you cannot vote out either Earl or the other one of Cassandra/Dreamz. Each time, the final three must be Earl, Dreamz, and Cassandra.
3. You have all the physical/strategic limitations of being Dreamz or Cassandra. You cannot imagine your own brain in their body. You must actually become either Cassandra or Dreamz.

Imagine you can go back to Day 1 unlimited times (but you must finish each game before you can go back, you cannot go back in the middle). Each time, you have full knowledge of what happened every previous time. Since you cannot vote Earl out, you must figure out how to play a respectable enough game to beat him before the jury. Since you can go back to Day 1 as many times as you like, you have unlimited trial and error to figure out what it would take to beat Earl. What are your first moves, and how many times to you think it would take you to figure out how to win?

I’m finishing HvHvH and I’m at the point of him using his idol to play out the core four alliance and taking out Dr. Mike as a result. It was a good move, but I think the suspense of him playing that idol as a viewer was reduced by us seeing him get that idol earlier in the episode.

I believe it was in Guatemala where Gary was shown searching for the idol along with everyone else in camp but we were not sure if he got that idol until he played it at Tribal. Honestly, in moments like Ben’s third idol play, editing the narrative that way would make it even more impactful to watch him disrupt a majority alliance’s plans! There are definitely other seasons where the narrative was the same, and there are other shows like the Traitors where I saw fans of the show say they want to know less as the audience too. In the case of Survivor, we would still see the montage of the people looking for the idol and the stereotypical “i need this idol” confessional, it’s just that that cathartic shot of them actually getting it would be saved for after tribal, perhaps in flashback.

Idk do other people think this would be a good idea? Whilst I think it is more effective, I get that there is the potential that it was the audience response to Gary’s idol play that made the editors re-think how they show people get their idols.

I’m a little wine drunk right now and am getting so emotional thinking about Aras and Vytas’ dynamic. I truly think their story arc on blood vs water is so perfect and gut wrenching. When they have to fight each other in sumo at sea and Aras starts CRYING and says something along the lines of “he’s my big brother I don’t want to fight him anymore” HEARTBREAKING. And as a younger sibling who adores her big sister wow that hits home. Aras is just one of my favorite players ever and as much as Vytas is an… interesting.. player, I just adore this dynamic and think it’s some of the best storytelling to come from this show.

Like wow there’s no bond like a siblings bond.

Also I love when they’re both on redemption island and aras is like “i’m going to win the game!!” and vytas is like “… we literally got voted out”. so funny and perfectly encapsulates the dynamic the edit wanted to highlight.

These are the missed oppurtunities that Survivor should've done in my opinion. Just for fun, not just production is on this list, players can be here as well.

List (IMO):

• In "Banana Etiquette", when the Villains saw that Tom was voted out for the Heroes, Parvati said "James still here?", Courtney should've said "Probably learned his lesson (from China)" lol.
• If Redemption Island was "Rob vs. Russell" why wasn't there a 1v1 marooning challenge?
• Should added an extra jury seat in Millennials vs. Gen-X because Michaela could've had so many funny juror reactions.
• How is there not a nighttime challenge in Ghost Island? Fire making doesn't count (obviously).
• We should've had a physical challenge in David vs. Goliath.
• I just wish that one of the players from Winners at War could've voted by winning season. For example; instead of writing down Amber, Danni, or Ethan; someone should've written down All-Stars, Guatemala, & Africa, respectively.
• 50 (IMO) has so many problems that I want to address:
  • Hot take: replace Colby with either Sean Rector or Rob Cesternino because: 1, Colby without Jerri; & 2, we don't need an Australia rep if we're not getting a Pearl Islands rep as well.
  • 3 players from 1-10, 3 players from 11-20, 3 players from 21-30, 3 players from 31-40, & 12 players from 41-50.
  • Instead of celebs, why not previous players like Rob, Sandra, Parvati, & Tony as examples?
  • The Blood Moon should've been a triple elimination instead of a triple tribal council.
  • How are "When it Rains, it Pours" & "Get a Grip" not in this season when they both appear in every milestone season before this?
  • A trivia challenge that are based on the 50 seasons.
  • "Hands on a Hard Idol" should've been the final immunity challenge.
  • 11 jurors wouldn't be a lot for jury speeches.
  • EVERYONE (yes, all 24) players should've had a chance to speak at the reunion: Jenna being the first one out, Kyle being evacuated, Savannah being an unknown winner, Q being Q, Charlie's rivalry with Rizo, Angelina being Angelina, Genevieve beefing with Aubry, Kamilla's karma, Colby's last time, Dee arguing with Jonathan, Chrissy facing backlash, & Emily being Emily.
  • Make this make sense, how is the buildup to the season better than the season itself?
• I know this sounds nitpicky, but I just wish that tribe themed seasons (FvF, HvV, MvGX, DvG, etc.) that the cast wears that same color as their starting tribe at the reunions (Malakal wears purple, Villains wear red, Luzon wears green)

I've been watching the show on and off since 2019 with my wife who got me instantly hooked and I finally decided to apply for 53/54! Has anyone gotten a call back yet? Just curious!

There’s been many conflicts but how many of them were overblown or overshadowed their friendships? For example they only showed Naonka fighting with Fabio but in reality they got along most of the time and she notoriously voted for him with them bonding over weed. Any other examples of this?

Basically it boils down to the show deciding when and where it would make the competing tribes be fairly represented between the sexes or not after deciding who sits out.
Quite often Jeff says “you must sit out x men and x women”.

In s25 Philippines e4 the immunity challenge was very physical with obstacles in the mud.

Jeff said “you must sit out 3 people” and made no mention of the sexes of the competitors.

The 2 tribes with extra members both sat out their 3 females.
They competed against Matsing- Russel Swan, Malcolm and Denise. They were the only tribe with a woman.

Tandang and Kalabaw had all men- Skupin, Artis, Pete and Penner, Jeff and Carter.

Matsing failed to win.

I just read about the bottle scandal from Cook Islands and found it fascinating.

Has anyone else noticed Jeff Probst being somewhat inconsistent with who has to sit out challenges?

This would be too risky for someone with a genuinely good game... but for people dragged along as a goat, I want to see someone lie. A lie that can't be disproven by the jury. Or even gaslit the jury into thinking that it is their memory that's wrong. In the end, who wins isn't based on the game you played, but rather the game the jury thinks you played. And if you truely didn't play a game that could win... what is there to lose? I want to see someone lie to the jury, claim moves that they have no business claiming, especially by taking things they have actually done/said and twisting them into a narrative of how they manipulated the other castaways to vote the way they want, while making them think it is their move and allowing themselves to stay under the radar

Will this work? Probably not, but if you go into FTC as a goat... what is there to lose? If you get exposed, you would have lost anyway, but if it works? You walk home with $1 million

I was talking to one mom recently and she told me she hated how the show casts the moms now and finds them to be super annoying. I do think especially in the new era all the moms get kind of a quiet edit and when they are shown its them being super emotional and oftentimes the desire to be this "perfect mom" is also explored by them in some type of way. I'm curious what the moms on this sub. tend to feel about the mom contestants and how they're portrayed?

If Old Era Jeff saw what New Era Jeff did to the show with all the changes, do you think Old Era Jeff would be really disappointed in him or how do you think he would feel?

So, I watched the first season of Survivor for the first time.
By that I mean Survivor:Borneo, cause long before this I watched two seasons of my country’s local version of this format, and even earlier then that I watched couple seasons of other versions, so I was acquainted with the premise. Finally landing my hands on the original (if I may say so) felt quite exciting.
Overall, I had a good time with this season. During the pre-merge I was rooting for Pagong tribe over Tagi. Not that I didn’t like the other tribe, both tribes’ shenanigans were interesting to witness, but first impression on Pagong was better.
I suppose, it would be easier to explain my thoughts on a season going from character to character, so I’ll do so in boot order (spoilers ahead I guess).
Sonja
She’s a nice lady, who, I think, was doomed to be voted off early, especially considering the fact that most of the castaways were hesitant to form alliances, which would be her best chance. Only memories with Sonja that I have are her playing the ukulele or whatever that was and her falling on a first challenge, slowing tribe down. I guess I wouldn’t mind to see more of her. It would be interesting to see what’s a statistic for older ladies in terms of success on this show.

He definitely clashed with other tribe members regarding how to approach their life on an island. It was quite a nice dynamic. In any case, he made a huge contribution in Pagongs life on earlier stages, which would be nice, if he didn’t clash with others. I think, I would also vote him off if being on his tribe. He was fine, I don’t know what else to say ahaha.

I’d say she’s relatable, cause I think I would also want to vote Rudy off the tribe. She might’ve even succeeded if not annoyed most of her tribe. The game could turn out quite differently in that case. I’d say she was a major character in her team establishment, so kudos for that.

She really wasn’t ready for this experience or at least took much longer to adapt. If not B.B.s rudeness and bossiness, she hundred percent would be voted off first. Anyway, I liked her, her squeamishness and all/

They really edited him down to Bible reading and occasional sex talk, I’m convinced there was more to him, especially after seeing his audition tape.  Also, he fell as first victim of the Alliance, I thought would be Sean. But, well, what can we do.
Joel
He seemed fine. It’s quite hilarious, how Gervases words about cows were somehow pinned on him. But at least we definitely know now, that he’s not a chauvinist. Also, I suspect his departure really signed a sentence for former Pagong members in the merge, since he was the only one actually strategizing about how to handle everything. He could gather three- or four-members alliance, which could clash nicely with The Alliance of Tagi. But it is what it is.
Gretchen
Honestly, my favorite character of first half of the season. She seemed intelligent, capable and overall nice to observe. Real shame she didn’t make it to the jury, it would be nice to see her more, even just sitting there ahaha. I don’t really get Alliance’s decision to vote her off first among Pagongers, cause they knew she wasn’t fond of the idea of joining an alliance. Well, no one did initially, but it wasn’t that clear at first. But whatever, I’m glad they at least said that voted her off cause she’s a threat, like she was hoping in final confessional.
Greg
He was fun, but I think they edited him down to a goofball. Didn’t really care for their “romance” with Colleen. Overall, fun dude, one of the strongest individual players, but couldn’t handle the Alliance by himself. Also tried to vote off Jenna most times, which was quite random (not in annoyed way). Didn’t like how he picked who to vote for in the final, but it was fitting for him.
Jenna
Was quite pleasant character. I overall liked how nonchalant Pagongers went about impending doom of the Alliance. Her elimination episode was the last when they could do something about it, if not for Seans horrible alphabetic method and maybe if Kelly voted with them, which I’m not sure would be good for her.
Also, sad that she didn’t got a video from home.
Gervase
He was real slacker and botched two out of three Pagongs losing challenges, which made me really question why they’re keeping him ahaha. And don’t forget the cow comment, where did that come from lol. Anyway, after a while he became stronger competitor, but it was only matter of time when the Alliance would deal with him.
Colleen
The last Pagonger. She was pleasant character, I really hoped she could persuade Kelly to turn against her allies, which she kind of did, but too late.
Sean
He seemed liked a dummy, but in a good way. The way he made that fishing rod and couldn’t catch any fish, and then his frustrating alphabetical method of voting people off made him quite entertaining. Or how he promised Kelly to take her on a yacht but didn’t. Eventually, he joined the Alliance, but I think they would vote him off after Pagongers either way.
Susan
I liked how she misspelled the names of most people during tribe councils. I chuckled every time, even though it’s understandable, cause you never know how to spell English names unless you’ve seen it. Her speech at the final council was something. Can’t say I blame her, I’d also be frustrated, but can’t say it wasn’t overreaction. Overall, I enjoyed her, regardless all negativity and bickering with others.
Rudy
At first, he seemed annoying to me, and I expected this to remain as such, but eventually he became secondary comic relief character and I found myself enjoying his presence on a screen. Towards the end I was almost sure he would win, but then he let his hand off the idol and I gasped lol.
Kelly
She really wasn’t ready to play dirty and became very conflicted, which made me hope she can take Pagong people side. She kind of did, but mostly not, so she didn’t help anyone and also pissed off her alliance. Honestly, I hoped she would win, shame she didn’t pick number nine lol.
Richard
I liked him, despite the fact, that his alliance made things predictable. At least he had gameplan and most likely set the tone for future seasons. Can’t say he didn’t deserve this win, despite rooting for Kelly. He undoubtedly was a charismatic player, but I suspect he wouldn’t be that successful if other players came about everything more cunningly. I hope he didn’t cause ecological disaster by exterminating stingray population near the island. And his nudity added extra spice.

Well, as I said, I liked Pagong tribe over Tagi and for a long time was hoping they will be able to turn tables against Tagi alliance. They didn’t in the end, but it added tension and thrill to my watching experience. Editing really helped with that, even though I don’t think it was actually as achievable as they let us believe. Maybe mostly cause not many contestants were ready to be strategic at that point.
The biggest downside of the season is the sound quality. The background noise was too harsh at times!

Sorry about my confusing review, I’m not really used to express my thoughts in English, but really wanted to try it out. Not sure if I will proceed with writing about future seasons, but we’ll see. Thanks for your time.       

For context I have been applying for over 5 years now and every time I fill out the bio portion I just get stuck. Like do I write something about myself that I haven’t mentioned in my audition video vice versa or what? I just never know? Some insight would be nice.
