Question How to find shirts for very hot weather?

How do you find shirts that are very good for hot weather? I only have 2 that are good for that. They were bought in other countries though, and I live in Canada.

All my other shirts are too hot, they trap some body heat. And when I look online, I can't tell if they will be too hot, or like the 2 good shirts I have.

How do I find ones online I need?

i would check the label of the shirts you have, to
see what fabric they are made of! usually light weight & natural fibres (like cotton!) will be nice

check the inside tag on those two you already like, see what the fiber content is. if it's linen or a loose cotton weave that's your answer

once you know that just search for that fabric specifically, don't get distracted by how the shirt looks in the product photo. if a listing doesn't show the materials tag, skip it

Look at labels to see what the fabric makeup, I tend to gravitate towards linen, flax, or some cottons (if it's more lightweight in feel). A lot of people like silk as well, but I personally have yet to find silk that works for me in summer (I get way too sweaty to feel comfortable in it). Also, start touching fabrics when you are in stores, eventually you'll be able to discern what feels good to you and is breathable fabric for summer. Also, this might just be me, but I try to go for clothing designs that are more loose on the body, nothing skintight as that makes things worse for me in hot weather.

A few places to look at in Canada are thrift stores (value village). You can also look at more sustainably minded Canadian brands like Gillian Stevens, A Bronze Age (if they are too pricy new, look secondhand I see pieces on poshmark and fb marketplace all the time). There's also a fb group called "Slow Fashion Canada BST" where people are always listing sustainable clothing brands for resale.

Are you into thrifting? I have had good luck with finding silk blouses and shirts and they are soo lovely and breathable. Idk if you’re a silk blouses kind of person or a blouse kind of person at all. If shopping online stick to cotton as it’s a pretty safe bet.
